I personally think we've been linked 2 or 3 times as per agent work. Jay's not what he was and isn't really in Southampton's thoughts, so his agent's working a fat paycheck. The problem with us is we've had that Ashley soundbyte so will end the Summer linked with more players than the rest of the league combined. Everyone seems convinced Lejeune is a done deal. Not the statement of intent I was hoping for, but i'll trust Rafa.
Agree on Rodriguez I don't think he's even in Benitez's thoughts. Fair happy with Lejuene mind, City's scouting network picked him up for a reason. Looking at the stats he outshone our defenders last season, in a better league, at everything but passing. Good first signing I reckon
For not too much outlay I'd probably be happy. Maybe now he has had a bit of football and some time to get more fitness back he'll be good to go for next season.
I assume with Sels going out on loan, Surprise No 1 is close? I assume the top spanish international midfielder is a load of cobblers? Any news on the alleged winger and striker whom we shall be shocked by?
Why would he lie? Can't stand bollox like that. Which is why I never got why people responded to twats like Fredor
The top spanish international midfielder is actually Lucas Leiva. You can work out the "surprise" bit.
Come on Windy stop leading them on. You're like that little tease down the local bar. You think you've got a shot and then she brings her 6ft 8in muscle bound boyfriend in.
What is everyone's expectations this Summer anyway? I haven't looked into it, but our record transfer is below that of Stoke, West Brom and a good few others. Most decent players seem to command £20m plus fees - but that's uncharted waters for us. Is Carrs leaving going to change everything? Or are we going to just stick to the way we've always been?
I'm expecting another 5 through the door minimum but who and what standard of player we are looking at I have no idea. Think we will need to look at breaking our transfer record (18m?) this year if we are to be competitive/not struggle but there are bargains to be had out there. Need a CB, Full Back, CM, Winger, Striker to pad the squad out a bit and then replace who ever goes as well.
I expect very little. I think we will spend circa 50m. I reckon there will be 4 or 5 players. So I think we will be dipping into the hopeful market with 8m-15m bracket players being our big signings. Maybe a couple of 3m-7m types.
You just have to love the expectations of football fans. "I expect very little. I think we will spend circa 50m." I know, I know £50M may not be a lot in the PL but £50M equal to very little?
Mirrors my expectations. Reina for around £3m (unless out of contract?), Lejeune for around £7m, one of these midfielders for near the £5-8m mark (Leiva, Acquah) then possibly two more costly attackers around the £12-£13m mark. No idea if that's going to be anywhere near enough. Doesn't seem like it, but then Burnley, Bournemouth and others have stayed up quite comfortably spending a lot less.
