Imagine my surprise when this popped up.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-39568602

And a running track being investigated at the new dock site.

Held firm in my belief that the club would be the enabling partner for the councils bid. Plus Mosh buying 50% liver building......

    Nope.

Not feasible without massively compromising the stadium build, which the brief to Meis had the atmosphere as the prime factor

Unless Joe wants to throw a few hundred million at it in order to facilitate the alterations AFTER its use as an athletics stadium then it isn't feasible. It's therefore not going to happen

The improvement in technology will allow it to be done IMO.

We are tied in with the council now and I am sure he timescale would allow build for either the 2022 or 2026 games.

We are not getting decent rates I nborowng without some something

No mate, you can't accommodate a track without compromising the atmosphere by having the stands set well back. Even with a raised platform solution like they did at Hampden, the entire design would be compromised.

The council are getting £4m a year from the SPV, so we don't owe them anything in that regard. The only feasible option imo would be what happened at City i.e. the ground was used for the games and then converted afterwards. Which would necessitate Joe paying for the alterations and us getting in in 2023 at the earliest.

Personally I hope Brum get the games and this goes away and Everton can just build their stadium.

You know it could happen......not the platform track like hampden. The option is to drop ad swing says under and have a reduced capaity athletic ground

Hampden just added the track into the bowl, it served a purpose. But the options are to have drop/slide away seating and to increase the pitch footprint and then lay the track down. It will give reduced capacity for the athletics but keep the main punters - football fans close to the pitch when switched back.

Given the latest example of an athletics venue converted for football I'd rather swerve it and tell Joe it isn't feasible sorry.

Remember what City's stadium was after the games and before the conversion?

The games would delay our move, as personally I don't think the slide away seating would work given we want a stadium with seating close to the pitch.

A track is over 50m longer than the pitch / run off areas are, that's a massive amount of removable seating in a square sided arena.

Thats my point, start with a football ground and make athletics fit. To be fair, I like a trip to COMS.

The COMS is great - now. But it was built as an athletics venue and then converted, adding the 4th stand etc.

We're intending being in BMD before the 2022 games, so I just don't see how we can make it work, and what's in it for us exactly?
