Looks like the Kenyans are arming themselves for a cracking IAAF World Championships in London in a couple of months. Young Timothy Cheruiyot reels off an amazing time in Stockholm. His change of gears in the 1500m was a real eye opener.

Ari Vatanen's famous, record breaking, 1988 Pikes Peak run. These were the good old days when dirt was the go and giant nads were everything. Today it's all tarmac and guard rails.

Wonderful try by the Lions just before half time. They go in down 13-8 against the All Blacks. Looking forward to the second half. One try apiece.

They tried hard, but in the end, the ABs were too classy. 30-15.

Love the FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championships. There's a cracking battle at the head of the table between Poland's hard charging Patryk Dudek and the Australian gun Jason Doyle. They are tied on 65 points a piece after 5 rounds. Going in the Danish GP, Dudek held a lonely point on Doyle, but even with a broken foot and getting about the place on crutches, the Australian managed to claw back that narrow lead. Both men rode like demons. With 7 rounds to go, it's hard to see the championship going to anyone other than the Polish or Australian rider.

Next Saturday will see the racing move to Britain for the first leg of Speedway World Cup, which is a team event. Each country will have four riders plus a spare. The teams to compete at King's Lynn will be the Czech Republic, USA, Australia and Great Britain.

The second leg will be run three days later in Sweden. Teams there will be. Sweden, Latvia. Denmark and Russia.

The winners of those heats progress straight to the final on the 8th. Second and third from the heats will race off for the last final spot on the 7th.

Poland as the reigning champions, get an automatic start in the final, which takes place on their home soil.

As the wonderful Usain Bolt's career winds down, the South African star, Wayde van Niekerk took another step towards the claim of premier athlete on the planet. After taking Michael Johnson's world record in the Rio 400m final, van Neikerk claimed another Johnson record last night at the Ostrava Golden Spike, when he broke the 300m world record. Too bad the commentator didn't have his head screwed on. He failed to recognise the significance of the run.

As the London World Championships draw closer, the big guns begin to make their presence felt. Muktar Idris of Ethiopia turns on the afterburners in the Paris Diamond League 3000m.

Ze Germans can, it seems, do no wrong when it comes to football. The under-21s beat Spain to win the European Championships the other day and Jogi Löw's youthful national team will attempt to lift the Confed Cup this evening. Although this tournament is of little interest to most of us, the emergence of this young and confident German team could shape international football over the coming years. The FA really need to watch and learn from this superbly run organisation.

There is only one Usain Bolt, but the is another superstar on the horizon, Wayde Van Niekerk of South Africa. Here's his first 400m run this campaign, in preparation for the Worlds in London. An amazing athlete.

At the same meet, the wonderful Genzebe Dibaba, also looking at London, shows her first real form of the season.

The men's 5000m. Edris wins, but the 17 year old Solomon Berega runs a cracker.

Schippers wins the Lausanne 200m but doesn't look that hot. With those shoulders, she should be taking on Anthony Joshua.
