Well that's he difference between (scientific) fact and belief.

Then there's the argument that science is just another belief system, but let's not get into that....

The use of "Absence of evidence is the evidence of absence" doesn't really work...

 

It sort of depends on the word really doesn't it. Apolitical and atheism can be covered with 'no interest in' but then there are words like asymptomatic which isn't. 'I've got no interest in symptoms thank you'

There is no problems with science from Islamic perspective, Islam and science co-exist and has done so for over 1000 years, in fact it was a Muslim that came up with the scientific method and that didn't shake his faith or belief for him or others.

 

Science is a belief system, though. It's a rather effective one with demonstrated results.
In order to believe anything, you have to accept certain assumptions or you end up with solipsism, which is rather useless.

 

Still doesn't make it less of a belief...

 

Everyone accepted traditional views of aerodynamics and animal flight, despite the fact it meant a bumble bee couldn't fly.

 

There are a billion and one things that you don't believe in, you just don't know what they are because nobody has come and told you they exist yet.

Having said that, and I'm atheist, but I believe theists are right to believe in god. An imaginary friend is no different to god in my opinion. You can't really prove imaginary friends don't exist can you? They sort of do exist in a way, inside the mind of the creator.

 

Morgan is a fanny ... he had no constructive arguement against Robinson .

Robinson is a fud also but at least he knows his subject matter .

 

There's active atheism and passive atheism and both have been on display here today.

 

People are more materialistic if that's what you mean then yes there is big social changes and its happening the other way as well.

Religions have dictated laws in the past where people have co-existed. The issues of co-existence is a recent even maybe even last couple of 100's of years. I am not sure what you mean by liberal, even the liberal society has rules and laws some religions allow certain things in public some religions don't.

He was okay giving his opinion, that was perfectly valid but then he tried to talk facts and was found woefully lacking. Give him his due though, he knew when to stop, which doesn't happen very often on here

 

Most people are atheist to a degree, some just disbelieve in one less god than the rest, generally because of things they got from their parents.
