While fans of the Black Cats may have been left frustrated, Newcastle United supporters are revelling in their rivals’ misery. The North-East clubs are at completely different ends of the spectrum heading into the 2017-18 campaign. Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle team are preparing for a return to the Premier League after winning the Championship, while Sunderland will compete in the second tier and currently remain managerless. The Black Cats have been hunting for a new leader since May following David Moyes’s resignation. McInnes was targeting by the club and they were given permission by his current club Aberdeen to hold talks over a possible switch to the Stadium of Light. It appears that the discussions did not go as well as Sunderland would have hoped as Aberdeen have announced on their official website that McInnes and assistant Tony Docherty have decided to stay put. As expected, Newcastle fans found this news rather amusing. The thing is the Mcinnes story should not have even been made public, so what happens next ?, do we wind up with McLaren, the mags would have a field day if that happened and I am waiting to renew my card. And remember Rapha could not keep them up !
Wouldn't worry, Rog. They've been through two relegations and endured the six in a row recently. And as Billy says it's their job to take the piss. Swings and roundabouts, mate. Remember too that they still have Fat Mike in charge and he's trying to sell. We look like we'll get the ownership thing out of the way soon and can start to rebuild. I suspect that the wheel will turn soon enough...
Guess they don't have derby day dominance so will take out they can get. You have to forgive how easily amused they are.
The truth is that the Skunks are probably miffed that we are ****e at the moment and they will be still unable to break our unbeaten run..
True but then everyone is laughing at us. One day they'll be able to create their own bragging rights but they'll just have to blend in with the crowd in the meantime
Spot on, it's the nature of a rivalry. You give it out so have to take it back. These things tend to go in cycles, it was your lots turn last year n now it's theirs. It'll swing back round again at some point. With Ashley in charge there's always a chance it might even be sooner than you think At least with your derby it's fairly regular. The swings down here tend to last years/decades* *the decades are usually in our favour
