I nremember the Norman Hunter / Frannie Lee punch up where they both got sent off then started throwing punches again as they trudged off!
Was certainly a man's game back then Dave. That's why I'll always maintain that George Best was the greatest player I've ever seen because what he did, he did with a heavy ball against defenders like Hunter, Charlton and 'Chopper' Harris and on pitches that often resembled cow fields, (Remember Derby's Baseball Ground mid winter ). His skills were truly breathtaking and I used to idolise him as a kid even though he played for Man Utd. George was the first true footballing superstar and unfortunately back then there were not the right people around to guide him. That said even now some players go off the rails when they pack up playing, Gascogne and Sansom for example. George also came out with some cracking quotes of which my favourite is: "If I had to choose between scoring in front of the Kop at Anfield or shagging Miss World, it would be a hard choice. Thankfully I've done both "
My favourite was, "if I had a million quid, I'd spend a third on women, a third on booze and squander the rest!"
United and City draw. Top 4 is back in Arsenals hands! Unbelievable. A Win at Spurs, all of a sudden Wenger could do it again! Ali just pretty much missed an open goal!
Fabulous picture. Have long wanted to visit there since watching webcams of the place: https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/webcam/norge/nordland/lofoten/reine.html Not too easy to get to, especially if, like me, you don't enjoy flying. Even from Oslo, it's 10/12 hours by bus! Definitely a plan though. PS I know that was football related, and this isn't, so apologies!
Dele does it again. What a season, and what a player! See what happens when you put faith in the youth! Jeez! Pen straight after too!!
So glad RvW is back among the goals and winning trophies! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39766512
Indeed - thanks to a combination of Hughton's tactics (10 men behind the ball AT ALL TIMES!! ) and Snodgrass's selfishness, little wonder he never got a sniff here.
Part 2 of Stewart Lewis's interviews with our new MD and SD. As with Webber, what he says is valid and makes sense, but as always the proof of the pudding... http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...-stuart-webber-ownership-and-the-way-forward/
Leeds to reimburse season ticket holders 25% as they promised if they did not make play offs. Nice to see they think the fans deserve something from a dissapointing end to their season. Ed Balls and Co take note
Hmmmm - Yes, I saw that the other day and not convinced our lot would even consider it. I did hear a rumour that they considered INCREASING prices for STs.
So Can scores with an overhead kick - yet when Jerome did it in the first game last season, it's disallowed!!! Just seen this on the text commentary on the Watford V Liverpool game - "The crowd are back with us now too, plenty of noise. It's the players' responsibility to give you something to sing about" Anyone know SW's email address, so I can send it to him????
