The trend will go on if Wenger is not replaced as Arsenal manager. He has overstayed his welcome in north London.

Two horse race Spurs is going to come second at least this time.

  3. It will go on even if he stays, Jiggy.

Only Conte and Mancini, in recent times, have managed to come as foreign managers and hit the ground running, in the Prem, and both those managers had much better squads to work with than Wenger's replacement will have at his disposal.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says it will take more years of sustained success for Tottenham before it can be considered that the balance of power has shifted in north London.
    (BBC Football)

Exactly. 1 season in 21 does not make a power shift.

Arsenal being 4th spot specialist may not be able to make it this time.

  7. One could make a case for them, although Ranieri wasn't exactly new to the Prem.

Again, the first two you mention had pretty decent squads to work with.

Most foreign managers who come to the Prem either fail, or do not live up to the reputation they earned abroad.

So the recipe for success is to find a foreign manager who has previously only been fairly average in the PL and abroad with no real track record of success. Bit like Spurs with Poch.

In that case I reckon Arsenal should go for AVB <ok>

  9. AVB was crap. Poch has done nothing other than make teams that were under-achieving improve and punch above their weight.

Poch is twice the manager that The Soon To Be Sacked One is.

Clearly the succession of **** foreign managers who have failed at spurs - before you lucked out luring Pochettino away from Saints - has traumatised you and coloured your view.

Ronald Koeman and Claude Puel have both "hit the ground running" as you put it. So did Wenger when he first arrived on these shores. "**** Foreign Manager Syndrome" does appear to be a bit of a spurs thing. Christian Gross, anyone?

  11. I cannot argue with you that Spurs have had more than their fair share of ****e foreign managers. I cannot even bring myself to mention some of their names.

I'd also readily agree with you that the likes of Koeman and Puel are just as good as the likes of Pep and The ****ed One. I have no doubts that either one of them could take over at Barca or Bayern and win things, just as Poch could.

But that is the point that I have been trying to make, not just in this thread, but for several months. Just because a manager is foreign and has managed the likes of Barca, Bayern, or whoever in Europe that they are going to come into the Prem at a club like Arsenal and immediately do what Wenger has struggled to achieve over the past 12 years or so.

Pixie scoffed when I mentioned Moyes or Hodgson as possibilities at the Gunners. Even Mark Saggers on TalkSport was mooting the possibility of Big Sam. Why is it that Pixie automatically thinks I'm wumming when I make comments like this?

<laugh> I have no ****ing idea why he would think that mate.

The way things are now, I expect they'd take Harry Redknapp. If they could prise him away from Brum.

So is this gonna be a shift from Arsenal to Spurs in that Spurs will now be the team that finishes top 4 every year but never manages to win **** all and gets eliminated early from the Champions League every year?
