Well - if the injuries are genuine, meaning he simply isn't able to play through them, that supersedes the accusation of being a wuss, by my definition, so therefore I'd feel sorry for him. I like Sturridge as a player, I think he has genuine talent and is one of the few players able to be a consistent match-winner, but if he's always going to spend two-thirds of the season on the treatment table then it's impossible to plan a strategy around him.
I'm sure Sturridge enjoys missing games, not playing during his prime years, missing out on contributing to the team which is currently struggling up front. I'm sure he's feeling very good about himself.
It is a crying shame, but it's been going on and on and it doesn't sound like it will get any better. Sorry, we have to cash in
This Clearly there's a talented player in there, his goal to games ratio is very good. But that's offset by the amount of games he misses. We simply can't afford to keep him, afford in terms of using a squad position on a player that barely plays and afford in terms of forking out £150k every week. The only option for him to stay at the club would be to either to find a way to play more games (not going to happen as its an issue that's been brought up before and nothing has changed) or take a huge wage cut.
But why would Sturridge take a pay cut, assuming his injuries are genuine and I don't think there are serious suggestions they are not. He's signed a contract. He could be our very own Winstone Bogarde.
He wont. That's why I think he'll be moved on this summer, provided we can find a buyer. As to his injuries, perhaps they're genuine, difficult to asses since we're not in his body. But I also get the impression he's not willing risk when its only a niggle or something most would play through.
Do I detect a hint of sarcasm here, Jimmy? And after you bollocking me for it too. I'm sure he'd like to be playing too, but some people are psychologically stronger than others.
well perhaps on the rare occasions when he is available and gets selected he could try putting in some effort. Frankly his performances for much of this season have felt like a bit of a piss take.
The slightest knock and he has a baby, that's what I think. He's been taking the piss. When we bought him everyone said he was injury prone but to this extent it's been bordering on the ridiculous. When he played alongside Suarez he was class; when Suarez left that's when it all went downhill. We won't get much for him but we have to sell him to anyone prepared to stump up the money because we can't afford passengers. As it is he's now worth about £10 mill, when back in the day when he played with Suarez we could have got £45 mill.
Reason I asked is because I think it is both. I don't think he's intentionally being a wuss, I think it's a mental after suffering so many injuries
I actually think he doesn't give a sh!t. He has no loyalty to our club and he is so big headed he probably thinks he is the best striker in the league.
His contract is til 2019... so I could see him being loan out for two seasons. If someone bids 10mil I'd be shocked.
10 million is top end for Sturridge right now, if we get offered that we have to and should take it and consider it good business because the pattern is that he continues to not play and devalue further. Nobody knows what it is with him apart from himself and Klopp and his team, and probably they don't really fully know either he seems that strange and misleading. I don't want him around the club anymore as his attitude stinks (as far as I'm able to tell from our limited perspective as fans outside the fishbowl) and Klopp likes the team to function as one with everybody on board with the plan as a unit and you can't rely on this guy to not try and make it about him every time he plays, especially when he plays so little and given the obvious ego he has. I'm not hating here, he just needs to go, it's a natural and obvious cut-off point, keep him around and it's just self-molestation for everyone
Shades of Patrick Berger here: I loved him too, but he got to a stage when he hardly played for us. Great shame, but like Jimmy and Wishi, I just refuse to believe the idea that he's doing this on purpose.
Either... He's a wuss...bye bye He's physically not capable of being a professional athlete.. Bye bye.
