4-2 FT. Stupid. We had a great chance and left it on the bench. Hope we don't crumble again now, but I'm expecting it, to be honest. The players don't have long to recover and they'll take this hard. Pochettino will probably accept the blame himself, while hailing the players' efforts. That's the right thing to do, but he should absolutely lay waste to Atkinson. I don't want him anywhere near our games, again. He's come back to haunt us and that shouldn't be something we allow to reoccur.
But for Hugo and Son's ridiculous errors we'd have won that. First mistakes we've made in weeks. You can't be that careless in big games.
Hopefully we will respond like we did to the Portsmouth defeat when everyone said we would collapse as we had The goons and Chavs to play in the week after - we won both that week and we must win both matches this week
We came up short and I do wonder why we changed a winning lineup to play Son at LWB. For the first ever time!!! Bizarre!! Atkinson wasn't even handed and several Chavs should have been booked / or earlier. Hope this doesn't derail the season cos we didn't deserve to lose 2-4!!
Atkinson was happy to give us free kicks in our own half though. However, one thing is obvious, Eriksen needs to be taken off corner duties. To have that many corners with so many big men in our team and never beat the first man is shocking.
You must be joking . He wouldn't give us the time of day. One of the worst refereeing displays Ihave ever seen. He must be favourite to help Los Ladrones win the CL
It was clear the way the wind was blowing on about 35 minutes when Luiz elbowed Eriksen in the back of the head and then went down holding his face. Twatkinson gave them a free kick - and there wasn't a peep about Luiz's foul let alone his dive from the commentary team either. This is why I haven't bothered with MOTD for the past couple of seasons, because of all the things they gloss over or edit out completely.
For a team that usually presses the opposition so quickly when they have the ball, giving Hazard and Matic so much time just outside the box to get clean strikes of the ball was surprising - and costly, of course.
He was the ref when we beat them 2-0 at White Hart Lane. Had nothing to do and still managed to give them a free-kick for offside from a throw-in! Anyone who doesn't already feel like throttling him should avoid Googling "Martin Atkinson Chelsea". How many times?
I was concerned when the team was announced, especially the subs bench which was extremely weak compared Chelsea's. MP's choices of substitutions were ridiculous. We needed an extra goal, so why take Son off and bring on Walker? The ref was diabolical. He allowed so many fouls by Chelsea. Frankly, I'm a little peeved, Spurs could have won this quite easily!
We took off our holding player and replaced him with a winger who doesn't know the first thing about defending. Whoever was supposed to be picking up players on set-pieces obviously didn't get the message. Chaotic subs, largely due to our poor starting lineup, for me. If Davies wasn't injured, then Pochettino really made a massive **** up. Still made quite a bad one, even if he is.
It's absolutely true. I don't know why it's always the same old story. We were the better team but everything fell their way. It's just so hard to take sometimes.
Kante had been nibbling all match in the way that eventually got him booked in injury time pathetic..off to roll a phat one
Lets not just blame the ref it makes us look like such bad losers. Yes he wasn't great but he wasn't why we lost. It was mostly self inflicted. I hope our team learn from this disappointment that's the only positive I can try and take out of today.
