Imo the main issue is how long it is All moves seem to need to be 2 to 2.5hours min now. It started epically but the spanish guys lisp and the little bit ridiculous forest whitaker character plus the blind ninja monk.. well.....it is a star wars movie. It was smartly done and respectful of the first movie timeline.
Yeah, it was decent enough but didn't really have any special hook, and not to mention Star Wars is a bit overdone now. 8 films and how many spin off cartoons? Someone needs to do some new imagining of a space saga for it to feel fresh again.
that'd not be star wars then like... It did have a hook though. a) attempting to be pan galaxy epic thing at start b) story about one girl c) back story of rogue one and spys to get the plans in movie 1. like how could that not actually be the hook. the actual story of the first moive. why princess leah had the plans day 1. d) everyone dies my favorite bit of it. e) deliberately retro with people looking just like characters from movie 1. It is Disney they are going to milk this until its a dead husk. we all know it. Lucas ruined the prequels so there is a demand there to do it better.
So TWD was better this episode but it's too little too late and this season has been overall gash. This show should be at least this good every episode then the key episodes i.e. start and end of season that are always great wouldn't look so so much better than the rest Line of Duty is back on BBC 1, was a bit of a mess throughout I thought but the ending was brilliant and sets it up nicely Robot Wars continues to be ... on
Agree with that, I also think it's getting a bit silly now the story and plot Thandie Newton is in it though so that's good for a cry-**** when you realise you've lost an hour again
I'm not sure I'm going to watch it, think it's done and should have ended last time. With The Get Down coming back and 13 Reasons due to start and I've just started Taboo, might give Line of Duty a swerve.
I watched top gear again BTW. They've not really hit the relationships. Le blanc and the baldly twat one were doing a race with the new bugatti and it just totally fell flat o nits face as a piece of entertainment. I don't know if its the loss of the three ould fellas or the writers or what but it just was totally contrived and lacked even a bit of interest in a 1500 bhp car. They'd done a reasonable job salvaging the show form where they were at... but... while the cars are good the things they are going and doing are not really working as pure entertainment. At no point yesterday did i actually think they were ever actually really racing each other to whatever place the ended up. we all knew the old top gear was scripted and contrived but it felt like a race was on still. Le blanc in particular was just in an odd disconnected sequence of things that were never explained how on earth tey related to each other and the baldy twat just drove the car without ever selling it to us. anyway.... much improved form last year but lacks what made it a cult show. ........................... didn't watch robot wars. Its just lost what it was also. also looks too contrived and inorganic. theres something about it thats just lost its appeal for me. the fact that i'd build a bette rone blindfolded may be part of it but also the fact that 90% of it is spinners ripping easy prey to shreds and that... gets dull quick.
I suspect there WAS usually a race going on, it was just they planned for inconveniences to happen to even it all up. I don't for one moment believe that most of the things that went wrong were accidents.
So good episode of TWD, been a strange season with the focus on showing these different communities and how people have grouped together to survive. The usual format is a low key start, mid season shock and then big ending, inbetween it can get a bit slow. This season though we had a big start and no mid season shocker at all and now we're leading up to all our war. There hasn't been a feature length episode this season and now that all the pieces are in place it's crying out for one as a finale, I'm not sure it can deliver the impact needed in 40 minutes. Will there be some culling of the cast? I think there will be, Eugine, Rosita, Sasha and Paul. They don't bring a lot and moving them on would leave room to better tell the stories of some of the new people like Jesus, and the Tiger Guy.
Seems to me you lot might be having your game of thrones season 5. Is it a long intro to this war or what.
