I used to negotiate a great deal with the PO. There was also an exchange bureau nearby and when I asked them what was the best deal they could do she pointed to the rates board and said "That". I chuckled and said "Surely you can do better than that" and she said that she was not able to change the rates. When I told her I could get 3 points better at the PO and showed her my quote, guess what; she said "We can match that". Always negotiate

Whenever I go on holiday I just withdraw the highest amount possible on my Visa card and get charged a minimal amount and live exchange rate.
Unless you're talking thousands it's hardly worth the hassle fannying about haggling with Bureau de change brokers.
