This thing with the £30m not being payable. My understanding is that Newcastle get £30m regardless. i.e. if Spurs sell him for £15m after year one then they would still owe us £9m. £30 - £6m for season one, minus the £15m received from sale which goes to us, leaving a balance of £9m.

I assume the only other connotation of that would be we get the £6m plus the £15m fee. i.e. we receive £21m. Which is still ridiculous <laugh>

I reckon Mike would have made it so whichever way it cuts, he gets his £30m.

Without doubt Newcastle will get the full amount. Has any deal in history ever been agreed where the buying club can resell the player at any point and wouldn't have to pay the balance? It's complete nonsense that anyone would agree to that, let alone Mike Ashley.

    This.
Mike screws people over, we know this.
Levy was thought to be a tough negotiator... until he met the fat man (not Obi.. the other fat man).

It actually wouldn't surprise me if we already have all the money.

Indeed. I heard somewhere that Mike has always insisted on payment up front in the same way he offers other clubs payment up front for our targets.Ths is where the Mackems and other clubs go wrong.... they owe lots of cash stillto clubs for players they no longer have.....

This was an exception I think given he could see the ridiculous choice Spurs were making at the time (and probably he was reasoning that we could make the signings we needed without recourse to all the Sissoko cash). But his red line has always been bringing players in under such arrangements, since he was stung by exactly this when he originally bought the club.

What a waste. Had the talent but not the mentality.
    Typical foreigner.
Felt he "deserved to win things" without actually contributing

Still has the talent and still could. He can be a beast when he can be bothered (Vs Chelsea once a season, vs Tottenham and for France in the Euros - he was pretty impressive in the Final). The epitome of what most fans dislike in modern football.

Limited talent though. He has never been great once he's run past his opposite number in midfield and then has to actually do something with the ball.

I can't really understand why they bought him. He doesn't seem like a player Poch would go for. He's cack. Kick and run. Happens to be quite a big unit but show him down the line and it's as simple as that.

I think he is very limited. Physically he is a beast. A natural athlete. His weak mentality means he doesn't make the most of it. He lacks guile. Pretty thick by all accounts. That isn't always a barrier if you have footballing intelligence. He just doesn't seem to have that either.

He can run - but so could Forrest Gump.

Sissoko hasn't got an ounce of football brain in his head
