Are we finally refusing to be pushed around in the transfer market?

    http://turkish-football.com/sunderland-slap-on-13m-price-tag-netherlands-international/

Fenerbahce will need to stump up £13 million if they are to secure Jeremain Lens on a permanent transfer next season.

Turkish media outlet SporX have reported that Sunderland are unwilling to negotiate the Netherland international’s price tag.

However, the report goes onto state that Fenerbahce will be unable to match Sunderland’s valuation this summer.
    -------------------------------------------------------------

Good news this if true - he cost a fair chunk and has been successful for them so why not - if the mags can get the money they did for Sissokho and Wijnaldum then he's certainly worth £13m

It's about time we dug our heels in on transfers although I doubt very much that they will have that sort of money, but others will. It's going to be very interesting this summer regardless of what division we're in, we have too many players that need to go and i'm curious regarding their worth.

I certainly hope we are becoming financially resilient as we move forward - I still feel we'll be in the premier league next season - and I hope its not "fake news" from the media .
But the link below over Coates and our failure is so bad to read:

Looking forward to a football stress free weekend and hoping Defoe leads England out with Bradley Lowery <applause>

If we don't get 4 pts from our next 2 games I will be resigned to our feeder league experience

Cheers but I just think its my coping mechanism to deal with possible failure at Sunderland - if we Sunderland fans can't be(illogically ?) positive no one else will be

Lens is a by-product of our 'revolving door' Managerial Policy.

Dick liked him and reportedly paid big money for him, (whatever that means in the current Game).
Sam didn't rate him and hardly played him, specially after he (Lens) spat out his dummy.
When he did play he failed to impress and his public utterances left no doubt as to his wish to be away.
The fact that he was sent on loan by our present Manager, suggests that he doesn't rate him either.

We may well have overpaid for him.
I can't imagine we want him back or that he wants to come back.

Perhaps we should instead look to get what he is worth and take the loss.

Agree but surley he's worth what we get as he is undoubtedly a top player (not while here mind) and seems valued at Fenerbahce. If the Mags got silly money for Sissokho and Van Wijnadum then we should play hard ball or we continue being soft touches.
But we need to be tougher and ruthless in the league for now - :emoticon-0148-yes:

I hope so, the 100 mil transfer fee will be useful.

For new upholstery on Short's jetskis.

He's still better than what we've got currently in Januzaj, Borini etc.

Not better thsn either unless he can be bothered. Allardyce wanted nothing to do with him either and he played borini ahead of him. Undoubtedly a decent player but he doesn't want to play for us and it shows imo
