The brilliant Howlin' Wolf with a live version of his classic Smokestack Lightening, a song for which he won a Grammy. He's been inducted into both the Rock and Roll and Blues Halls of Fame. It's been said of him: "No one could match Howlin' Wolf for the singular ability to rock the house down to the foundation while simultaneously scaring its patrons out of its wits." He certainly had a sense of both excitement and menace about him.
The great Son House. The famous Death Letter leads it off, but really like the the two songs where he stands unaccompanied. Some talented man.
From the 1973 Toots & the Maytals' album, In The Dark, the first song on side two, Take Me Home, Country Roads. There's nothing cooler than reggae drumming.
The words great and legendary are all too often bandied about without much in the way of merit, but not so with Chuck Berry. He's just passed away aged 90. R.I.P.

I'm not a religious man. But beauty is beauty, no matter where it comes from. The sublime Ella Fitzgerald with a brilliant rendition of Just A closer Walk With Thee. How many grieving hearts have been ripped asunder by Ella's interpretation of this masterpiece?

Let's test the old adage that says that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. When I first saw this 300,000 pound super yacht called A, I thought it horrible. But like a lot of other people, I'm not so sure anymore. At 469 feet, it's the biggest sailing yacht in the world. The masts stand 300 feet. Ok, so does it really have some beauty about it, or am I just getting used to it's fugliness?
