There was a brief mention of it on the EDP website earlier in the week and all it said was 'with the International break coming up after the Barnsley game, there was no need to rush the decision!!!' I mean, they knew that before they sacked AN, so why not say there will be an announcement late this month??? Just emphasises the clowns who're TRYING (and failing MISERABLY!!) to run this club.
The board thought they were going to get Rowett and now he's gone to Derby they're having to scramble for other options. I find it a bit disturbing if the rumours are true about Neil's sacking being partly due to the fact he wanted to sell Hoolahan in the summer, does Delia want to keep the rest of the old guard on the books.
It's going to be Irvine isn't it. With some kind of haphazard Director of Football arrangement, probably Woy. He is yes man so would suit the current board down to the ground. Get on the phone, get McNally back.
In a bloody heartbeat, buddy. The club have lurched from drama to crisis and back ever since he left us!
Three (3) lungs on the warpath. That's all we need, him, Irvine and any idea what Gary Megson is up to these days http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/three_lungs_gary_holt_on_return_to_norwich_city_1_4935055
Well, at least we'd move from our current position ........................................... backwards ....................
Basil Brush for manager. He has the vital qualifications 1/ He is not one of the deeply unpopular names that keep cropping up 2/ He is unemployed at the moment (something getting no end of people onto the wants list) 3/ He was once popular (see above) 4/ He has extensive experience with Wolves
So AI says he would manage the team until the end of the season if asked, but doesn't want the job full time.
As expected, this thing is going to seriously drag, the boArd will say they can't get their man now, then in the summer we'll hit August without a peep. And start the season in chaos with everything done last minute! Bah!
'Oh ye of little faith!!!' I'm sure most of us agree with you and WHY should this year be any different????
Oh do calm down general, por favor! Scouring continents - and further afield, it would seem, all takes time. I can see this turning out as more tragedy than comedy - just a hunch.
Has Irvine actually said he doesn't want the job? He did say he wouldn't apply for it because of something he said to AN when first hired. Irvine doesn't need to apply because he's now getting a full blown tryout.
I'm sure his words were - 'I won't be applying for the job', but I'm equally sure he wouldn't turn it down if offered it!!! #cheapskates
That's the most worrying aspect, for me. In recent times, Paul Clement, Gary Rowett and Mark Warburton have all - for better or worse, got new roles. And where is NCFC while all this activity takes place? As Elvis Costello once said "She's filing her nails while they're dragging the lake"
Update from today's EDP - "Irvine has again pledged not to apply for the post to replace Neil on a permanent basis at Carrow Road, but is willing to extend his interim role." "For whatever period of time, I will follow the club’s lead. Let’s try and beat Barnsley and take it from there,” he said. “If the club wanted to speak to me about the job I would offer them the courtesy of listening to what they had to say. It is not something I have thought will happen." So my understanding is that he WOULD stay in charge until the end of the season and whilst I have no issues with that, I'd far rather we get a new manager in place by the time we face Villa on 1st April, so that he can properly assess the players and their strengths/weaknesses.
Personally, I wouldn't have wanted any of those as they lack the kind of experience we now need. If we had gone for one of them the accusations would be 'rushing into a decision' and 'looking for a cheap option'. There is no great urgency now, so I'd like to see a thorough approach taking into account the new proposed structure as well. The combination of manager and DoF will be crucial, IMO, and I hope it leads to long-term development through young players rather than trying to bolt together older players into a squad for some quick results.
