Simple question: at this point in time, do you think it's more likely that City will stay up, or be relegated? Thoughts welcome please, though more detail than 'down as long as we have that clown(s) in charge' would be appreciated.
As it stands Nick, the stats so far say we are going down. We are one point better of than last season, with a far far better team. Having spent the most money ever on players. The simple facts are the teams, below are picking up points, better than we are. Reality if we bumble along as we are,we are going down.
RR "As it stands Nick, the stats so far say we are going down." As it stands the best statistical metric (i.e. the table) suggests we're going to be safe. Albeit marginally.
With LJ remaining in charge I believe we will be relegated. Should Lansdown sack LJ I think we will stay up. Before anyone asks who - I say genuinely it doesn't matter. Anyone warm and breathing will not do worse.
Nothing is changing as we stand. I don't see anything other than a slow decent down the table. Change now, and we have a reasonable chance of survival. Left much later, a new Manager wouldn't have much time to change things and would say so, if it were to happen
I must admit, even during our horror run, I wasn't thinking THAT much about relegation, but even now that we have scraped a few points together, we seem to be getting closer and it dawned on me, not only is it a realistic threat, it's now probably slightly more likely then not, particularly now that Abraham could well be unavailable for a while (or at least, not fully fit). Rotherham are gone, almost 100%. Burton have been pretty impressive considering their stature - they had it tough earlier on in the season, but seem much more capable of earning points now. Similarly, Blackburn were thoroughly dreadful at the start of the season, but can now mix it with most of the teams in the division and showed their quality in their cup game with Man Utd. We might just be able to out-perform Wigan MAYBE... as for who the 3rd team we can finish above, we really are pinning our hopes that Burton revert to earlier season form.
I found an old newspaper yesterday from December 10th. We were 11th in the league then !! Totally agree that Rotherham look doomed even with 15 games to go, but Blackburn, Wigan and Burton have upped their performances recently and we're in a dog fight and no mistake.
TalkSport probably fed the results into Football Manager 2016 and that came out. How the feck can you think that proves anything RR I don't doubt we are pretty fooked. But using that as a source is hilarious
talkSPORT has decided to submit this season's data into the Super Computer to see how the Championship table will look in May. At this stage, no one can say with any certainty, but our popular system has had a good go of predicting the final standings. Based on information available on February 20, 2016, take a look at how the Super Computer is predicting the final standings - from 24th to first - by clicking the right arrow, above. ' The table, of course, should be taken with a pinch of salt! Anything can happen over the next three months, but it is always fun to speculate. Agreed. If LJ was sacked, JP would be the natural choice and he would turn things around immediately. I have not forgotten the immediate effect he had on results following Cottrill's sacking. I believe he would do it again. In the continued absence of a sacking, for 90 minutes at a time I still support LJ and the team, clinging to a vain hope that the next game will see us turn the corner, but in between games I hope for an end to this miserable tenure.
I saw this on OTIB. 'Also when we lost to Warnocks Cardiff on 14 October we had played 11 matches ( as had they ) and we had 12 more points than them - no they have 13 more points than us - so a turnaround of 25 points !' Didn't realise quite what a fantastic job Warnock has done over there. You have to give him credit, with little money as well.
Wouldn't the best statistical metric be the current form table maybe taken over the last 10 / 15 games which would suggest we will be relegated?
Why 10/15? Why not over the last 31 games? Which suggests we won't be relegated. I see what you're saying and I'm being pedantic to be fair, but I'd be amazed if we continued our horrific form all the way to the end of the season. It will inevitably get better. The question is whether it will be too little too late.
But if you use the current form table for the last 6 games then we won't be relegated. That's the problem with form tables you can pick the best starting point to back up your arguments. The most important games are the next 15. Who cares about the previous 31?
Yes, good point and I agree with you. Even that team that lost 27 games on the trot eventually stop the rot. I dont see the dire run lasting for ever either but we need to have more points that 3 below us. We have 2 games in hand on Forest which if we won would overtake them, see us 3 points behind Ipswich Birmingham and above Villa. Its not all doom and gloom as long as we do, do something about it. To emphasise the point, the first year they had automatic relegation from league 2, Lincoln were the team that finished bottom. It was the only time all season that they had been bottom of the league and the one time it mattered.
