I know, I know ... but hey the Chrismas lights have been up in Oxford Street for two weeks and it's not yet Halloween, so maybe we shouldn't be too surprised. Anyway the first rumour mongering is that Norwich and ourselves are after Sergi Enrich of SD Eibar.

please log in to view this image

He was the guy we were strongly linked with in the summer and allegedly had made a £3.5m bid. At the time his brief CV was:

"The 25yr old from Menorca signed a contract extention with Eibar (till summer 2018) in January. He's apparently strong, good at holding up and got a fair few assists; last season he scored 9 in 38 games."

This season he has 3 goals and 2 assists in 9 games (in 4 he came on as sub). That deal fell through among stories that Eibar wanted £5m and/or he wanted to stay and prove himself with them. We, of course, then turned our attention to Chris Martin (for about the same amount of money in the loan deal and wages).

What I want us to do is start looking for players in certain positions who are Premier class. At the moment I think there may be less then 3 players in our squad who I think are capable of stepping up, should we fluke promotion, and I can't see us being ready for a top 6 place challenge next season if we don't up the quality of player we get in now and during the summer.

Accordng to the Scottish Sun we are in competition with Bristol City over the possible signing of striker Martyn Waghorn from Glasgow Rangers.

    upload_2016-11-11_15-25-0.jpeg

Waghorn is reportedly disappointed not to have been offered a new, improved deal with the club and has seen the likes of of Rob Kiernan, Wes Foderingham and James Tavernier pen new contracts over the past few months. The 26-year-old is looking for move away in January after he met Rangers boss Mark Warburton to discuss the future.

Ex- Wigan player, Waghorn scored 28 goals last season but he's managed just eight goals this season and could leave leave on loan to end his Rangers misery.

If we are still in or around the top 6 a quality big signing at striker could be the difference.... I like our squad now but think we are a striker away from really challenging..... Fernando Forestieri is not playing at the moment for Wednesday following his falling out and transfer request being denied in the summer. Sign Martin and Forestieri and lets go!!!

According to reports from Spain we're being 'offered' Villareal's midfielder Alfred N'Diaye

    upload_2016-11-13_19-15-40.jpeg

N’Diaye arrived at the Yellow Submarine in the summer for £6.8m from Real Betis but he has already found himself out of favour. He was brought in by Marcelino during pre-season but the manager was sacked before the season started and replaced by Fran Escriba, who doesn’t fancy the Senegal international.

The 26-year-old has only made five La Liga appearances this season. He was disappointing in both games of the Champions League play-off as Villarreal lost to Monaco and has failed to prove to Escriba he is good enough for a team that currently sit third in La Liga."

Although N'Diaye looks sounds like a decent signing, surely midfielders are the one thing we don't need, if anything I wouldn't be surprised if one or two went out.

Not a very good Google translation from Turkish media:

"Kerim Frei could not find much luck this season separated from Besiktas ...

Besiktas this season, coach Senol Gunes know more than the chance to play outside Holy Freie Medipol Basaksehir English Championship team it learned that Fulham was the suitor. According to the news in the morning, transfer the project team to acquire the 22-year-old players in the value of the black-and-white management who want to protect the transfer period Search Kerim Frei plans to hire a team can play specified.

Basically seems to be saying that Kerim is having trouble fitting in at Besiktas and we're considering bringing him home. If true, would you agree with our 'management' (guess you might need to add your own interpretation on who that might be) ?

I'm not sure that his position is one where we're lacking at the moment, but it would be good to see if, second time around, he can fulfill his undoubted potential with us. Also, if the move happens early in the transfer window, it could be useful back up for an African Cup of Nations exodus. I've lost track of how many we might lose to that tournament, but I'm guessing that it could be Aluko, Ayite and Kabano, in which case my comment about not needing cover in his position may not be so accurate.

Just Ayite and Kebano Captain. Aluko's Nigeria strangely didn't qualify. However, as you say, the position of both of them is one Frei could cover.

The main problem I'd see is that it would take Frei a good few weeks to get (Championship) match fit. And to be fair he always was on the chunky side. With the transfer window not opening till 1st January and the first ANC being on the 14th, him coming and them going would pretty much coincide.

The Daily Telegrah are saying we're linked to the Huddersfield striker Nakhi Wells

    upload_2016-11-21_17-54-53.jpeg

As you'll remember we were linked with him in the summer and you might also recall he scored for them in the 1-1 draw at the Cottage last season. The 26yr old had 3 goals this season and all told 37 for Huddersfield in 101 appearances since signing for them in 2014. Apparently he's rejected a new contract deal and they'll be holding out for £8m if he moves in January.

Fair few press reports that Arsenal are keen to loan out 21yr old striker Chuba Akpom in January and that we're one of the interested lot.

    upload_2016-11-28_10-5-23.jpeg

The lad has just recovered from a back injury back he got in September and Wenger is anxious that he gets game time at the Championship level. He was out on loan to Hull last season and managed 7 goals in 40 outings. Not brilliant but at least he has experience playing in this League. He's had a short spell at Brentford before that and they're bound to be interested as well. Prior to the injury Akpom was a regular in the England U21 set up and has claimed 4 goals in his 5 full caps.

Given the problems inherent in getting the right player in the January window, settling in time and so on, we might be tempted. The Pog certainly worked for Jol. And the price will be right. Not only that, he's an athletic 6ft and we definitely lack height and mobility up front. However, not sure I can see how he'll fit into Jokanovic's system if he sticks with Martin.

The Gaffer has apparently told Tom Moore at Get West London that he wants Chris Martin signed permanently in the January window.

Jokanovic did add however, “It’s not in my hands. My opinion is we need to sign a permanent deal with him. This is my opinion. It’s a decision that is in the hands of the club.”. Is this him getting his retaliation in first in the turf war with analytic Craig Kline?

To be honest I think this will be a quiet one for us and probably rightly so after the busy summer window, I fully expect a few more outs rather than ins.
I think a successful window for us would be to get a few players tied down to contracts, I was thinking maybe get Martin and Jokanovic tied down on new contracts would be a good month but after the latest interview with Kalas stating he expects to leave Chelsea and hopes to impress on loan with us I would try and move quickly to sign him up, that then got me thinking why not try and sign up Piazon as well.

Basically all I want for Christmas is to sign our three Loan signings permantly and to give Joka an extension!

Agreed, Cookie, but another out and out striker would be nice. Jordan Rhodes on loan, with an option to buy? I'd take that in a heartbeat.

I would be very surprised if we signed Kalas permanently. He is likely to get a move to a Premier League team if he waits to the summer, so our only real pull is that he wouldn't need to move house (and who knows, might make the playoffs). Having said that, it would be a fantastic (late) Christmas present for us.

Piazon and Martin, however, are likely to view us as a good landing spot. The Premier League is not currently calling for them, so a decent London club should meet their standards. I would definitely favour a move for both of them.

I expect our window to be quiet. Even those starved for game time (e.g. Tunnicliffe, Jozabed, LVC) are unlikely to go anywhere and I suspect we'll only see a youth signing and one or two loan deals in.

After an extended absence zapping up the rays in the antipodes, I never the less have been following the fortunes
of our club, who apart from a few glitches seem to be performing much better than previous seasons.
On the subject of Jan transfers i am fully in agreement with many other posties in their desire to tie down on a permanent
basis the loanees who seem to be gelling in nicely, but yes ,we do need if in the top 6 a couple of additional quality players'
a C/F and at least 2 defenders,as we could well loose Ryan Sessegnon, for in my opinion the financial powers at the
cottage can only see £££ signs.
Jorden Rhodes a maybe but only at half the price bandied about, my choice having seen him many times ( not much this season)
is young Steve Humpries well worth a try, would be interesting to hear the views of those who have seen him recently.
And maybe getting one of my favouites back on loan Emmerson Hyndman ?
Staying put here for Christmas, but looking forward to coming back to the cottage in Jan when we will be making a push for promotion

Wishing you and yours a Happy Christmas, and a footballing New year we can all rejoice in <badger><badger><badger> <cracker>

The 24 year ols Czech international goalkeeper currently plays for Sparta Prague. He's on contract till 2019 and valued about £1m.

The Sun are saying that we are very, very interested in Grimsby's centre forward Omar Bogle.

please log in to view this image

Big, strong and athletic the 24 year old has 29 goals in 47 appearances for them (16 in 23 this season so far). He's on contract till summer and valued around £700k but suspect it will take a tad more than that to prise him out in this transfer window.

The rumour has been around for a wee while but this is the first time it has been picked up by a national. The downside is that, although born in Birmingham, Omar is eligible and has a cap for Ghana. So, outside chance, but he could be off to ANC 2017 in January.

I still think we need a quality C/F and C/B. Get SJ on another 3 years as I really think the bloke is a quality coach.
