I love garden ponds. Moved into this house a couple of years ago and there were two ponds - but preformed and only small. I am currently exploring their replacement. Trouble is I quite like having some fish in the pond but from an environmental and wildlife perspective fish and other wildlife don't mix. Not sure I want two large ponds so am doing a lot of considering ...... :)

Why would dolphins have solar panels?

Sorry was going to add a comment but my wireless keyboard is broken and I'm too lazy to use the on screen keyboard to type...

I was shocked by that article. How we can, as a species, just think it's ok to dump millions of tons of dangerous chemicals into the ocean because 'it seemed like a good idea at the time'. Articles like that one make me lose faith with humanity.

I have a long ranty post for the Politics thread that I'll save for another time...

I have seen that the present government have just taken the step of lowering taxes on flying, as preparation for Brexit. Presumably they think this will make Britain more attractive to business with the Americans at some unspecified date in the future. What a surprise ! The consequences to the environment of Brexit could be of catastrophic proportions if this is their way of thinking. At the moment kerosene tax is the only fuel which is exempt from any taxation - partly as a result of this, since 1990 Co2 emissions from air transport have been rising faster than from any other source. Yet the British government wants to make this even cheaper ! So a future Britain will be looking for trade deals Worldwide (without all those nasty EU. environmental regulations), thus increasing the amount of air freight and also increasing the pressure on port capacity in the USA.

This video is an 'externality', people. Don't be distracted by it. Keep consuming. Nothing to see here...
