There was a suggestion on the current transfer thread that we should a 2016-17 one so I thought I would have a go at it.
If we get top 4 then I can't see any of our players leaving unless we want them to. However, if we end up 5th or lower then it will be a different case imo.
There is currently a story that B.Munich are after Dier ... the Standard admits Dier has no wish to leave but went on to spout the story anyway! I guess we will see more and more of these stories over the summer if our players do well in the Euro's and we don't get top 4.
There will be stories galore about Pochettino, Kane, Dier, Ali, Toby, Vertongen, Rose and Lloris going to God knows who and of course about Berahino!

    So let the gossip begin

I will keep all the lists below updated as the windows progress and will add a winter transfer list of in and outs next December.

If anything needs to get rolling, it's Fazio. In the general direction of the door. I'll even provide the carpet!

In order of priority our needs for next season (IMHO):

A striker capable of getting 20 goals a season.
Some cover for Mousa and Eric Dier.
    Cover for new striker.
A Christian Eriksen type player who can pick a pass and score a goal.
A right sided centre half to cover for Toby.

The first requires significant expenditure. We may have the others already at the club - Bentaleb, N'Jie, Pritchard and CCV? Whether these players will sink or swim we'll not know unless we give them a shot. If we spent all our transfer budget for the next 3 years on a fabulous striker, I'd be happy with that and getting the additional players from our Academy.

I'd be a lot happier if Joe Lewis put his hand in his pocket and subbed the building of the ground (which he's allowed to do under FFP) and gave us a significant opportunity to fill some of the gaps with quality. We have an opportunity to re-establish ourselves as a top side in England and Europe. What we do this summer will set our future for the next decade. With the new ground, a manager that players want to play for, young, highly talented players who are committed to the manager and the club, the state of the art facilities and other clubs in transition, this is the time for the great leap forward. Joe, if you want something special out of owning our club- don't wait, seize the opportunity as there won't be a better one. Not in your lifetime and probably not in mine.

Most importantly... anyone who joins has to FIT in the squad. You can't buy team spirit. Well you can, but then you have to pay £30 million+ per player, rely on individuals rather than the team, and that might still not work. A team is built on players who get on, and you can't go introducing "individuals", regardless of how good their individual ability appears to be. When I hear certain names mentioned I shudder, because I'm just worried it will spoil what we have now - a unit that is greater than the sum of it's parts.

All I want is a striker to relieve some of the pressure from Harry, he's played so much that at times he's looked really fatigued and when he's had to go off there's been no sufficient replacement to come on nor has there been a proper alternative for when he's been rested.

A DM to cover Dier would also be great. I'd love to see Nabil grow into that role but whether he can or can't remains to be seen, Dom Ball has been getting good reviews when he's played at DM for Rangers so maybe that could be an option down the line but I think right now, an ageing DM could work, someone who can pass on knowledge to Dier yet not come into the squad with the expectation of being the number one DM. A player similar to Scotty Parker, Gareth Barry etc.

CCV should be ready enough as fourth choice CB so I don't think we need to add there.

Keeper's we're fine, full backs we're fine, attacking midfield we're fine.

The key signings are for Kane, Dier and Dembele: Kane because going a season on one striker is not going to work twice, Dier because our midfield lacks bite when he's rested/suspended, and Dembele because our midfield lacks a certain presence when he's rested/suspended/injured (and it does look like we'll have a couple of openings in central midfield next season) - and just as importantly, we need to lock down Marcus Edwards with a long-term contract.

After that, any moves are conditional, for example...
    - if Vorm wants regular football we need to find an understudy for Hugo, because I'm not sure McGee or Glover are ready to step up yet
    - after an injury-ravaged season, Pritchard may not be in a position to understudy Eriksen, meaning we need to look elsewhere
    - we may need a centre back to cover Alderweireld if CCV isn't promoted to the first team

If we're looking for a young option, I'd throw in a wild card and say Assane Gnoukouri of Inter. Don't even remember how I stumbled across him but having seen the usual YouTube highlights and a little read up, he seems in the mould of Pogba; tall, engine, skilful with an eye for a pass, not sure if he has the wonder strikes in him yet (or the crazy hairstyles) but I'd say he has all the ingredients to be come a beast of a CM in time to come. Serie A is going down hill and Inter are nowhere near the giants they used to be so I'd say he's attainable for someone like us, especially with our record of playing young players with a hunger to impress.

There are stories around that Teddy Sheringham is saying Kane should go to United in the summer.
I get why he left when we were doing nothing (even though he admits he kept persuading Darren Anderson not to leave spurs at the same time) but to argue Kane would develop more by going to united than staying here seems bizarre. Is he hoping for a job at united so feels he has to act as their mouth piece? Is he still pissed atvthe way he left us the second time (lots of rumours that he fell out with Hoddle and the club intimated that if he kept quiet he'd get a coaching job at whl in the future)? Is it cos he ain't been in the news since his sacking and wants to remind people he is still around? Or is he just a cock?

Teddy's only allegiance is to Teddy. He has nearly as many 'boyhood teams' as Robbie Keane.

I think we're well covered in most positions. However, a striker is a no brainer. And I'd love to see a really creative attacking midfield player. Someone like Coutinho or Mahrez. Someone who's capable of the doing the unexpected and can unlock a packed defense. We very often struggle against those sort of tactics.

He's living in the past. When he played it was probably true that Sir Alex was a class teacher.
I think after yesterday's game, Kane and a lot of other players know where the future is.
Cover for new striker- Jermain Defoe. Does he want to play in the championship?
If we are willing to break the bank for New Striker- Zlatan?

Other than Fazio I don't really want to see anyone leave but I think we might have to let a couple go if they're not going to get playing time. Prime candidates are Bentaleb, Chadli, Son and perhaps N'Jie on a loan deal. I wouldn't let them all go but I think if we need to strengthen our options in defensive midfield midfield and upfront with real quality and I'm not sure they can do that, or will be happy about competing with being 3rd choice for their normal positions.

Upfront Berahino seems the obvious candidate but I'd snap up someone like Schurrle if we had the chance. There's that guy in France too but I've never watched him play so I'm not really sure. Would be nice if we could get a promising youngster in as third choice too, unless Harrison's worth giving some time too. Perhaps we could see if Rashford or Martial fancy CL football :D

As the Dier replacement I think Wanyama is the obvious choice. Not sure who else there is if we can't get Wanyama.

Not so sure that Wanyama is going to be a good replacement for Dier from what I've seen he's a bit of a head case running around kicking people up in the air.
It would be like having Timothy Atouba back again.

It may be that Wanyama's attitude problems come from frustration at being denied a move to Spurs, like Berahino. He'd not been sent off in the PL before this season. He picks up a booking every 3 - 4 games which is ok. My main worry is cost. PL players are expensive and whilst he is entering the last year of his contract, he could be a player we have to compete for and as we know, Southampton don't like us very much.
