Social media is a ****ty abused tool a lot of the time, but with the right intent, right people and no malice it's a wonderful opportunity to unite people in a common cause. I knew the injuries at the weekend, but when it was confirmed to me on Monday, my wife and I actually cried. The shock was horrendous which I never thought would happen to me with my son actually racing.
I'd got wind of his injuries but was really hoping it was wrong info. When I saw the announcement on the just giving page I was totally shaken. I just hope that's the worse of the news for the lad now. Amazing work by the racing community on the just giving site. Close to half a million now. Keep on sharing it!
Phenomenal response, 670k already. A massive shout must go out to all the big names, who have not only put money in but more importantly given it the exposure and momentum it needed.
Hope it keeps climbing! A mention of it in the UK F1 coverage may give it another push if they do it.
I see shark wings and t wings are banned but only next season. dissappointed.... they have very little effect relatively but are being held on car all season.
Well looks like Adrian Newey and Martin Whitmarsh (plus lots of others) have failed in the America's Cup. Losing 5:2 to New Zealand. Well if New Zealand hadn't flipped it probably would have been 5:1. Oh well back to the drawing board.
When they brought the VSC in I assumed it was like the WEC slow zones. I think it would work a lot better to spice things up
Ron Dennis leaves McLaren . Thanks & Good luck . No angel , but did a great job IMHO. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula-one/40455584
His time had come though. LIke him or loathe him, especially in the Marlboro days a McLaren was rarely far from the front. He was a dinosaur though and not keeping pace with modern trends is what I think dragged McLaren down. Project 4 was ahead of its time in 1980, but the formula for that didn't change over the next 30 odd years and McLaren got left behind.
He should never have come back in 2014. He left on a high in 2008 and basically mismanaged everything in his second stint. I guess he couldn't take being on the sidelines and watching Whitmarsh run his team. Sadly, given how much he as done for the sport, this was the only way it could ever end. No retiring gracefully for a control freak like that.
