Same, dull as dishwater. They were the type of band that I used to switch off from if they were on the radio and used to hate sitting through listening to the Chart show on Radio 1 on a Sunday night (Who else used to sit there with their tape deck getting ready to press play and record at your favourite songs)

Music I was listening to in the 80's was Prince, The Fall, The Smiths, Joy Division, The Cure, New Order, Public Enemy, KRS-One, EPMD, Talking Heads, Kate Bush, B-52's, Dead Kennedys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pixes, RUN-DMC, Cameo, Sonic Youth, Wedding Present, The House of Love, Beastie Boys, Nick Cave ... loads more I can't remember off the top of my head.

The middle of the road pop pap that bands like Tears for Fears used to churn out just made me feel nauseous.

Love most of those bands. Never thought Tears for Fears were dull though. Surprised to hear that they were poor live though. Replayed this song more times that I can remember after a particularly painful breakup

One of my favourite records of all time is The Story Of The Blues by Pete Wylie and The mighty Wah.
I really like Sinful by them too.

For me the 80s were terrible. There were certainly gems in there, but on the whole the music sucked. Feeble and thin, with the overuse of electronics.

If someone was to ask me what my least favourite decade of music was I'd say the 80's without question. What a load of ****e.... imo.

I still listen to a lot of those bands, so my above post doesn't include those!

I also sat with a tape player cutting the charts. Also sat recording Kiss FM when it was a pirate station!

My mate used to run a pirate radio station playing garage out of Eltham in the late 80's early 90's. We used to go to his house and smoke spliffs when he was on air. We'd sit in the background giving it some 'boooo'.

Spot on...it was tearful **** barring the odd gem of a tune scattered around.

Was Eye of the Tiger 80's? That's about it I think.

In the 90's Eltham, Woolwich and all round those ends were loaded of bedroom stations. Loved it, good times.

I was an avid listener to 95.4 Kool FM - That was pirate back in the day, but went on to be massive. People such as DJ Hype, Scibadee et al. all came through Kool FM. Banging it all week in a smoke filled bedroom, weekend party's every weekend. Just bong after bong then adding some extra chemicals most weekends. Buzzin.

Agreed, I find today's music absolutely crap, I'm sorry, but I can't stand listening to half of the stuff that's been put on music channels nowadays.

As far as contemporary bands go, I really only like The 1975.
    They are pretty decent.
    That really is about it.
