When you consider how rapidly technology has developed in the last 50 years, the mind boggles at what the future holds. I'm sure if someone had said 100 years ago that man would walk on the moon, or we would be taking a close look at some of those planets out there they would have been laughed at. So what would we laugh at now that will be common place in 100/200 years. How about 1,000 years, or a million years . Well how about this for a thought in the not too distant future. Foreign languages. I was watching with interest some news the other day showing the development in artificial intelligence of lip reading. Thousands of hours of studying newsreaders lips whilst broadcasting the news have helped to advance this technique with amazing success, even to the extent of having to take account of context to distinguish between similar lip movements producing different sounds. It showed a newsreader reading the news and a computer interpreting in real time using artificial intelligence At the rate this is progressing it doesn't take a stretch of the imagination to see this advanced to the point where it can automatically detect the language and interpret in real time in any chosen language. Install this artificial intelligence into robots, which are already developing at a frightening rate, and the language barrier has disappeared. It wouldn't be a total surprise to me if one day our brains, which after all are computers with extremely advanced artificial intelligence, could be tapped into and made to accept newly developed artificial intelligence (eg download a language interpreter). It would be even less of a surprise if there are beings out there somewhere that have already mastered this (they might even be robot aliens). What sort of things do you believe could be common place within 100/ 1000/ 1,000,000 years? Will robots ever be able to reproduce?
Even a robot wouldn't attempt reproduction with Nicola Sturgeon, and as for lip reading how long does it take for a Scotsman to interpret the words **** off.
Sex robots take off. Freaky guys get right into them and get all nichey about versions. four headed ones with the arse of a large cat like a panther take right off. The quadrogammyfelinebot becomes the world's most popular robot. They become sentient and take over society then they actual, for real, walk on the moon just to show off.
Within 100 years there won't be anything left at the rate things are going. We'll all have to emigrate to Mars where it will be jolly cold. Or Venus where it's facking hot.
