Not that you want to hear from any Mags about anything football, if David Moyes is sacked and he ought to be as he's had a whole season and looks to be adding a relegation to his CV. Simply put: He's failed. Barnsley have an average championship squad but are over-performing and are currently 11th, it's largely down to their coach Paul Heckingbottom. He sets his team out to play an open game but his team are not attacking to a flaw I would say. Also Barnsley are a threat from a set piece in the same vain as WBA have been all year which goes to show he's an astute coach. Are you lot interested in an up and comer or are you more interested in an experienced coach?
Up and comer for me. Even if it takes a couple of years in the Championship. Need to rebuild from the very bottom.
Il be honest it isn't all that bad down here to be fair yous will get a fair bit of to coverAge I think along with Leeds and maybe villa Anyways moyes won't be sacked he's in it for the long haul I'm afraid
Haha Well I've been mocked for saying we were still alive the last few seasons so more than happy for that run to continue. Yes we are probably down but while there's still hope I won't give up.
It is still possible that we will stay up. But what then? Without major changes, another season in the Prem will just be the same as the current one, except the discontent will just grow. For me all the stuff about lack of money to spend and injuries are a red herring. The high technical standard and excellent knowledge of the transfer market, which were the cornerstones of Moyes' reputation, have not appeared under his management. Sacking him now is not an option, and we need to stop wasting money on paying managers off, but next season, no matter which division we're in, we need a new approach.
When have I said I'm optimistic **** wit? Simply stating we are still alive isn't saying we are going to stay up. Again the fact I haven't given up hope doesn't mean I think we will stay up. I clearly stated it is improbable we will stay up but not physically impossible which for your information is a ****ing fact. Put it this way if you were in battle and it was 1 against 10 would you just give up and let yourself be killed or would you fight for survival till your dying breath?
I agree with almost all of that. The first team has been continually undermined from decisions made off the pitch for too long now. Who the manager is at this point is almost irrelevant now for me. There's no real fight out there on the pitch for a full 90 minutes. Perhaps if we hadn't had the injuries we've had this season, that may have made a difference. Bit for some reason I suspect that may not have made much of a difference. For me this has been a bridge too far. And the fact that Short was there yesterday suggests to me he may be thinking the same. Just my opinion of course. But if this is his first visit in many a month then thats just delinquency of duty on his part.
A loss is the worst result we could have had, esp if it came with a heavy goal difference. Surely been sacked? No he wouldn't. Let's see what happens re: point 2, not that I'm expecting us to win many.
We're down with or without him to be honest so I don't really give a ****. I'd possibly give him next season to try and get us back up but would understand him going. If he can't get us challenging for the play offs I'd definitely get rid at that point. I think it's more important that Short goes than Moyes personally. We're a sack of ****. Bringing in another sack of **** manager to replace this sack of **** manager isn't going to change anything. Realistically we just cannot attract a decent manager. Our players are ****. Our finances are ****. Our owner is ****. Why would a manager who's any better than utter **** take the job? I'd rather the stability to be honest. The last ten years has taught us swapping managers once a season has done nothing to help us and has kept us **** while debt has built. Give Moyes another 12 months for me. That's not to say I rate him. I simply want to break the cycle of **** and am clinging to the fact that he did well at Everton. Understand people wanting him gone mind, he's a bag of ****. I wonder if Mancini would still fancy the job like he did before we hired that sack of **** Bruce. How many times can you say **** in a post? On the Sunderland board... Lots.
Relegation has been on the cards for years and we have fought our way out of it but by doing so we have not had that chance of getting our breaths back or reshaping the team season after season. To all those who would not countenance a manager like Allardyce, Hughes or Pulis - what do you reckon now looking at their teams? Too often we want only the best because we see ourselves as this mythical big club etc. based on our history, crowd size and so on. Lets face it, bad signings by managers who turned out to be less than ordinary are mainly at the back of our plight and we have never been able to break the mold. Player contracts guaranteeing them top wages for four years and their lack of performance have also heavily contributed. Me, I would take two or three seasons of stable ordinary football instead of this search for the big time which, we will probably never see. We are victims of the way football has become over the past ten years of greed and expectation, nothing more and nothing less.
Anyways it will be nice swapping places hopefully yous get back up for a derby if not yous will have boro to play
If... we stay up this season then Moyes deserves a new 10 year contract, manager of the season award and a knighthood, yes he signed Donald Love etc but he'd have performed the biggest miracle of all if we survive. To be fair to the bloke the majority of the team have been absolutely garbage for several managers now who have had success at most other places they've managed (Advocaat has won pretty much everything they is to win in football, O'Neill won the league cup at Leicester, Allardyce got Bolton into Europe!!!). I'm happy to keep him, go down (finally and for me it'll be a relief to get it out of the way) and re-group over the next couple of years, the Premier League is un-competitve and not very entertaining anyway, always enjoyed going to Championship away games than the Premier League one's.
I feel our problems can mainly be traced back to the period when Bruce began to lose control of the ship. What we needed at that point was someone to consolidate and gather the momentum that was beginning to run out under Bruce. At that point Allardyce, Pulis and Hughes would have been a backwards step. We appointed O'Neil, who was also a backward step. Di Canio, Poyet, Advocaat and Allardyce were all firefighters for us and several of them complained about a lack of funds. Pulis and Hughes have both had money to spend so I don't think they would have done any better than the managers we've had in that period. What we've needed throughout this period is someone to provide some spark and to get performances out of the players we do have, rather than spend money on bringing more sub-standard ones in. I too would take several seasons of stable, ordinary football but I can't see that happening under Moyes. For me, he has shown nothing to suggest that he's capable of giving us what we need, whether we're the Premiership or the Championship.
Im of the belief that it doesnt matter who we will get as manager, even if we attracted Conte, we will still be an utter bag of ****e. The club is just badly run, like the club is just accepting the fact that we are sleepwalking towards relegation, its just taken longer than expected. The only way we have a chance of moving forward at the moment is by going backwards first. However we could end up going further backwards but i am willing to take that risk cos supporting Sunderland at the moment is just boring. Might be nice to sit in a league where the club (not the fans) deserves to be for a while.
