Bit of a luxury player I'd say, probably at a higher level but quite similar to Chadli in that he can produce some superb moments of magic but don't be expecting him to sprint back thirty yards and do a Lamela-esque tackle.

I'd be surprised if the move went through, as you've mentioned Atleti just paid €25m for him so can't see them looking to loan out a 28 year old unless it's one of those compulsory purchase deals after he's played X amount of games for us.

Rumours are that the supposed interest we had in Bruma has cooled.

Carroll is supposedly on the brink of an £8m move to Swansea. Yep £8m, you read that right (one article even states we're holding out for £10m which is why it's not been completed yet).

Jay Rodriguez has said Poch is the best manager he's ever worked with (well obviously!). Cue "Spurs back in for Rodriguez" stories to arise within the next few days.

Davies has supposedly quashed rumours of any move to Palace or Chelsea, insisting he's happy here and enjoys learning and competing with Rose.

We're apparently scouting Hoffenheim striker Mark Uth.

It looks like Tom Carroll's time at the club is coming to an end: Paul Clement has admitted an interest, while Poch has said he needs to be playing more.

Definitely the right decision for all parties for him to leave now. Winks has shown more in 3 months than Tom did in 3 years. I like the lad and hope he has a decent career.

I've heard reports that we're holding out for close to £10m for him, which surprised me as I'd thought he signed a 1 year extension in August. Or maybe it was 2 years. Either way, he is out of contract very soon. £5-6m seems a fairer valuation of the player.

I've seen a figure of £8m being thrown about recently, which still seems to be a little high for an uncapped player who has been a bit part player for the past five years.

Homegrown, January, England tax, relegation fighting side... All adds up, apparently.
I think he'd be a useful player for them and suit the way that they play, but they need defenders more.

They're the Welsh Spurs B to go with Hull's Northern Spurs B and Watford's Near London Spurs B.
Naughton, Routledge, Sigurdsson and now possibly Carroll. We've got a lot of ex-players out there! <laugh>

Because we haven't been linked with a German attacking midfielder for a whole five days, we're linked with Freiburg attacking midfielder Maximilian Philipp.

You get the feeling I'm giving this as much credence as the links to various French teenagers of West African descent, don't you?

At the very least I expect a repeat of the Wimmer situation from a couple of years back: we bid in January, they say they won't sell until their Bundesliga status is safe, so either we go back a few months later as we did with Wimmer, or we think "sod it" and look elsewhere.

There's a weird story going about today, where former Ajax youth teamer Darko Bodul is claiming that he very nearly joined us in 2009 with Garteh Bale heading the other way, and Danny Blind rated Bodul so highly that he put the kibosh on the deal.

Personally I think the story is complete bollocks: in his "breakthrough" season in 2008-9 he made one substitute appearance in a match where Ajax somehow managed to be 3-1 down at half time against Vitesse Arnhem (which begs the question how they managed that, given they had their first xi which included Stekelenberg, Vertonghen, Vermaelen and Suarez all starting), while in 2009-10 he was on loan at Sparta Rotterdam where he scored the grand total of one goal. Nothing about that says anything more than we maybe scouted him, although to be blunt it is more likely we were scouting somebody else, considering both Alderweireld and Daley Blind were in the Jong Ajax team at that time.

Another reason to believe the story to be utter bollocks is when you look at his career since then: he's been a near-permanent fixture on the bench at Nacional de Madeira, do pretty well at Sturm Graz, do less well at OB and Rheindorf Altach (a club now known as Cashpoint Rheindorf, yes really...), somehow conspired to be even worse at Dundee United, and is now muddling around the mid table of the Russian Premier League, all of which makes him look like a bitter ex-pro despite being a 27-year old who is still playing.

Apparently Carroll is due to have a medical at Swansea. £4.5m deal, apparently.

I think that's a fairly good deal all round. Hope it works out well for him. Never a top 4 player but I think he can do a job for a team like Swansea, no disrespect intended.

Is this turning out to be the best Transfer Window ever?

We're in a position where we don't need to buy or sell.

Payet wants out of West Ham.

Now Costa wants out of Chelsea.

    <laugh> ****ing superb.

That's a more realistic fee tbh. The rumours of us holding out for £10m were ridiculous. I've got no problem with Levy fleecing other clubs, but for the sake of an academy product who has been nothing but loyal to the club - hasn't got regular football yet doesn't utter a peep in complaint, I'm glad we're being reasonable in removing any obstacles to him developing his career.

We're half way through the window - does anyone else think there won't be any incomings? Would like to see Onomah go out on loan. A few people have suggested the same for GKN but sending him out seems a bit pointless as the player he is ostensibly an upgrade on is already out on loan himself. If he was worth wasting 2 months in the summer haggling, begging and grovelling, he should be good enough for the first team squad. And from the brief cameos we've seen, that does appear to be the case.

If anything is happening in terms of incomings it'll be on deadline day. To any neutral looking at us, we're in a healthy position in terms of form and quality. This may help our negotiation stance, as on the outside it doesn't look like we really need anyone. - So maybe deadline day is the best time to see if there's that bit of extra quality we can add.

I don't see GKN leaving, infact I think that's crazy. He's a potential game changer and we need as many different attacking options as possible.

I also agree about onomah, I don't see where he fits in right now, so a loan would be the best option.
