And Arsenal, but it counts for little if we don't finish the job. Hopefully its a nice confidence boast going into this clutch of games.

Ah, how nice to visit the board after a great performance. I am not sure why we don't play like that more often and the way we pressed reminded me of the Everton game. If ever the expression "one-nil thrashing " was applicable, it was last night.
I was thinking about what Les said. Rotation (needed), and little time between fixtures has given Puel no time to coach and for the fans to be patient. I am sure that there is more to come from this team. If we don't win the EFl, maybe we need to be just out of the European places so that next season we can go again without the distraction of that. Hell, as a once only thing I wouldn't be bothered if Everton scraped a place above us to grab that. There was an interesting JayRod interview in the telegraph, which I assume was linked on here somewhere, where he commented on the culture of improvement throughout the club and that it will survive the loss of individual players as it has before. He is getting back towards the player we know that he can be. And look at the number of Academy lads in the squad yesterday. Exciting times, if you can just have a little faith and patience.

Some commentator said (prior to yesterday's game) that a win could save Puel's job. Ridiculous....he would have to do a hell of a lot worse for his job to be at risk. Whatever the fans are like, the Saints board have a longer view and will give Puel time.

Maya had his best game in a Saints shirt and I think that he is benefitting from playing in the first team more often this season.

Well, we were absolutely bloody brilliant weren't we?

Our closing down and desire was fantastic. Liked that we seemed to know when to press and when to sit off and keep shape.

Yes, slightly disappointed to not score more but great to take a lead to Anfield and think we can score there too.

    Sturridge is a twat.

    Ref was ****e.

Certainly seemed like team playing for the manager.

So embarrased to hear some fans singing the 'victim' song. Thought we were better than that. Disgusting.

Puel got it tactically spot on, a great counter attacking performance from us.

seems to pretty much cover it to be honest..

on your last point unfortunately every club is blighted by a percentage of morons all we can do is show they are a tiny minority of football fans - whilst obviously giving football related stick to the oppo

The Liverpool fans around me were all commenting on the pace of our counter attacking. It was nice.

Our 'pressing' isn't the same with Origi and Sturridge in the team. Neither of them do the job. Earlier in season with forst choice forward line of Cout firm Mane were a totally different side going forward and pressing the ball. Really misse Mane and with sturridge central it pushes firmino out wide where he's less effective.

You guys played well but think you might be going but far to say we're in a false position. We've nearly double your points.. if that's not significantly better then now sure what is <whistle>

Thought redmond (bar his goal) was pretty pants. Missed 2 great chances and although might say unlucky to hit the bar 1v1 with keeper you'd expect him to score. He had 4 very good chances and scored 1. Late on he gave the ball away few times being too clever when all you needed to do was try to keep possession and instead gave it right back to us to attack again.

I like him as a player, thinks he's very good and a real threat but how he got motm is beyond me?!

Give me a break. I'm expressing just about what everyone in and about the club is - we should have had more, and it's a shame we weren't able to top our great performance with that cherry. This is a tough two-legged tie. There is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary about that point of view, nor is it pessimistic to anticipate a tougher struggle in the second tie. I enjoyed the game as much as anyone, particularly as a pro-Puel and optimistic fan. I would like to do Liverpool some serious damage (ie. knock their confidence in the league, deny them silverware for a while longer), and maybe my ambitions are slightly larger than yours is all. At 1-0, it's a shame we're not in a slightly stronger position to do so. I doubt you'd be unquestionably celebrating a 1-0 half time lead.

I'm hardly about to hang my thumb, at any rate. You're trying to make something negative about an at worst neutral comment.

<laugh> Key word there is 'significantly'. You have far better attacking options than us, even without Mane. It's just that I now believe, after a period of doubt, that we can go to Anfield and give you a game.

I stick by what I said about Chelsea and Spurs though - different gravy, from what I've seen. It'll be them two and Arsenal for 3 of the 4 CL places. You're in the hunt for the 4th imo, with the two Manchester sides.

Unfortunately mate it was a fairly sizeable minority, which what disappointed me so much.

I then nearly had a fight with someone who called me a **** when I joined in singing 'JFT96'. He also said some other pretty unsavoury stuff which I've decided I'm not going to post here. Not a violent person, but trust me when I say that guy needs a ****ing slap.

Not going to keep going on about it, but hearing that from a fairly decent amount of people was a real sour note.

To be honest we have had a belly full of pessimism after the recent happenings, we just don't need more of it having just played what was probably the best performance for months, give us break to enjoy it before you start with the negative waves again, please.
If everyone else expressed it, why did you feel the need to say it as well?
