We've touched on this before. However the Mirror are saying today that the competition to sign Ryan Sessegnon has intensified with Man City now joining Liverpool, Man United and the early runners Arsenal in the hunt.

    upload_2016-12-6_14-50-42.jpeg

You'll probably recall Arsenal's interest dates back to January of this year with the report claiming they had a £3m offer turned down. The Club recently said they had no plans to sell but of course we;ve heard that before.

The one optimistic tag to hold onto is Ryan's close family ties and the stories of their down to earth attitude towards the 16 year old's future. And not losing the sight of course, to the fact that he and his twin brother have been at the Club since the age of 9.

It was widely reported and accepted that Fulham and Sessegnon have agreed a 3 year contract that kicks in on his 17th birthday!
Though this would not actually be legally binding and he could change his mind at anytime until he signs though my gut instinct following everything I ve read is that he will sign this contract!

The Gaffer has told Cauley Woodrow he can go in January .. for his own good.

    upload_2016-12-20_14-10-50.jpeg

Signed from Luton for a 'six figure sum' back in March 2011, Cauley has made 28 first team appearances since his debut 2 years ago. However his only start this season was against Cardiff in August and the 22 year old is now well down the pecking order. Something which he recognises himself -

I made my debut quite young and it feels as if I’ve been around for a long time,” said Woodrow, who has a contract until 2018. “A lot of the lads at my age won’t have played as often as I have at the level the club is at. I think it’s been positive. [But] I need to get back playing, whether it’s here or elsewhere.

The Daily Mail are saying that the two Rangers - QP and Glasgow - are keen on Ryan Tunnicliffe.

    upload_2016-12-22_16-33-23.jpeg

Apparently Holloway has always been a fan and Warburton is a bit short on aggressive midfielders after ripping up Joey Barton's contract. With Ryan's contract up in the summer and no immediate sign of the Club offering him a new one, this January may be expedient for both.

Oh, Oh - French media are reporting that Nante are after Floyd Ayite.

    upload_2016-12-24_21-1-49.jpeg

Either side of his injury, Floyd has been in great form and clearly his recent goals have attracted attention. He's likely to be off to the ANC with Gabon shortly but that doesn't seem to be putting them off. However, with him only 6 months into a contract till 2019 and his recent comments about enjoying life here you would hope that this rumour would go quietly away.

Ironically, Nante are interested because Alex Kacaniklic has managed a mere ten games for them since moving there on a free last summer.

    According to the local paper;

"The club insists it will only be like-for-like trade on all players in January- or at least the ones they want to let go."

    And on Cauley specifically, the paper reports;

"[Fulham] are looking to loan Cauley Woodrow - but have never told him he can go permanently. Contrary to reports, the 22-year-old striker will leave only if a big fee is waved in the Whites' faces."

We've either got someone at a lower league level that we're targetting or the 'money men' are trying to balance the books.

The local paper are now reporting that Matt Smith could be moving in January.

    upload_2016-12-29_12-8-21.jpeg

    The Gaffer told them:

‘Matt Smith is a good professional and working hard. I've preferred to use different people in the position he plays in general. Anything is possible in the transfer window and we'll try and make the best decision for ourselves.’’

    Source: http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/spor...fulham-boss-slavisa-jokanovic-admits-12380280

Be sorry to see him go since he comes over as a really nice and fun guy but from a footballing perspective it makes sense. With Cauley and now Matt rumoured to be leaving you have to assume Jokanovic has targetted a striker to cover for Chris Martin - despite the deserved high expectation of Stevie Humphrys, the lad isn't ready yet for a permanent step up.

According to the Sun he's a target for Ipswich

"Mick McCarthy has identified the former England under-21 international as a possible solution to Ipswich’s striking woes. Town lost 2-0 to Fulham at Portman Road on Boxing Day and have struggled for goals from their forwards, with midfielder Grant Ward leading the club’s scoring charts with five. McCarthy plans to tempt Woodrow to Suffolk on an initial six-month loan deal, with the possibility of a permanent transfer to follow."

According to the local paper we're in talks with La Liga side Leganes about sending Jozabed out on loan (with an option to buy).

The lad has obviously found it difficult to adjust to his move to us in the summer and the Gaffer has gone on record about him needing to try harder - at the language as well as his football. We saw bits of him early on this season and he obviously has skill and a football brain but he equally obviously struggled with the style of the Championship. His last outing was back in October when he came on in the second half of that calamatous QPR match. Since then he's had two U23 games and frankly, looked disinterested.

Probably a good move for him at this time - Leganes, I think, are 16th in La Liga so decent standard and the whole environment will be more comfortable for him. And for us, since as things currently stand there's no way we'll see much of a return on the £3m or so that we paid for him.

Rather belatetedly, since he's played in the last couple of U23 games, the Club have confirmed that Georgie Williams has been recalled early from his loan to MK Dons.

"The Club can confirm that George Williams has returned to Fulham from his season-long loan at MK Dons.

George featured 5 times during his third spell at Stadium MK. His final appearance for the Dons was a substitute appearance in Monday’s Sky Bet League One clash with Chesterfield
    "

Apparently we were unhappy about the number of games wee Georgie was getting and have now lined up another loan spell. This time with Sheffield United.

Lasse Vigen Christensen's agent has been telling Danish papers that discussions have taken place with the Club about his current situation. The favoured solution is apparently a 6 month loan back to a club in the Dane's homeland, also saying that Fulham have turned down offers from English clubs.

    upload_2017-1-5_16-32-1.jpeg

Here's the article (with the usual dodgy translation):

"The captain of the Danish U21 team, Lasse Vigen Christensen, find himself in an untenable situation in the Championship club Fulham FC. From being a master player, the 22-year-old midfielder smoked out in the cold, and this season he stands just recorded 49 minutes of playing time in the league and three games in EFL Cup. It benefits obviously not his development.

Therefore there must be something in the current transfer window, and Lasse Vigen Christensen and his agent has initiated a dialogue with Fulham FC on how to resolve the situation, so the Dane can come to a new club.

    - We are of course aware of Lasses situation, and the club's not happy with things as they are now. Therefore, we are in dialogue with Fulham and other clubs, and Fulham are in dialogue with other clubs. Lasse be rented out so he can get some playing time. When he has not played more than is the case, it is not realistic with a sale at this time, says Vigens agent, Gulli Tomasson, to tipsbladet.dk.

Lasse Vigen Christensen has a past as a youth player in Esbjerg fB and FC Midtjylland, but already in 2012 he slipped to Fulham. Now the arrow points back to Denmark.

    - There are several showing interest. Fulham have turned down a few offers from English clubs, and it might be very good for Lasse to get away from England. Super League is very interesting at this time. It will be good for Lasse to come home to Denmark and a half years, says the agent, adding:

    - There is interest from the Super League, but the economy also plays a role, and it can be difficult for a club in Denmark. Right now conditions difficult, but it may change during the transfer window. Therefore I do not think that he will have an agreement in place with a Premier League club before the end of the window if it all becomes."

Just a thought, but does Arsenal signing that non-league defender mean that they might not be so interested in Ryan Sessegnon any more? From what I've heard about the new arsenal signing, it sounds as if he's a left back. If so, it still leave's plenty of potential suiters, but hopefully it increases our chances of keeping hold of Sessegnon for longer.

Newcastle, Brighton and Norwich all reported to be interested in Tom Cairney. If substantial bids were to come in for Cairney then it could be a big headache for the club but hopefully we show a bit of ambition in trying to keep our best players at the club. Keeping Cairney here this month should be a top priority.

I'm not too worried about losing Cairney to someone in the same division. With the fact that we are not too far away from competing for the playoffs, it would be a bigger gamble for Cairney to make a move in the same league, rather than playing out the season with us and either going up with us (you can hope) or moving to a Premier League team in the summer.

More focus seems to have gone on young Sessegnon since his goal and performance yesterday, but surely Fulham is the only place for him at the moment, what other team is going to give him the first team opportunities hes getting here??

All he has to do is look at the other "wonder kids" that have left Fulham recently. Dembele, Roberts and now Hyndman are all playing their football in Glasgow! Not that I want to knock my national league too much(but its not the greatest, is it?) and I'm sure all 3 will still go on to bigger and better things but surely Sessegnon would look at those 3 examples and think staying at Fulham is the best option.

Btw, I'm over the moon that Hyndman has signed for Rangers. Massive coup for us up here and looking forward to seeing him play.

Good evening all, back from my extended stay in Aus, and its nice to see that the club appears to be in a healthy position
    league wise.
The worrying factor being the gossip columns, who seem to have a majority of our young talent already heading for the door,
please let this month be over without any regular exits,a couple of additions " yes"
A current news item amongst the German sports papers is Werder Bremen is in for Slavi ? i can see his frustration if not
given a free hand over transfers, lets hope all is just paper talk.
Cant wait to get back to the Cottage even if i do freeze

    Welcome back rosc.

That was the Miror saying Weder Bremen. Now we have the Sun saying Wolfsburg. Somebody, somewhere seems to be planting stories. Maybe the Sky Sport one on New Year's eve about Malaga got lost in the mix.

Just to cast doubt on these rumours - for example - thought Weder appointed a new guy in October and have gone five games unbeaten. Just to be pessimistic - for example - Jokanovic has gone public about his stance on Martin, his expectations in the window and that he's looking for the Club's backing on both.
