Well done, well said. I am also entirely unapologetic about gaining an education. Even though I left school at 15 and ended up with a post grad degree in my 40s. What saddens me is that there would appear to be no realistic pathway for today's youth should they not jump all the hurdles first time round.
This is a good one though. Our old favourite Rod Liddle: Ms Anne Maple of Lewisham — my new poster girl for free speech She’s been given an anti-social behaviour notice for expressing her political beliefs in the window of her own home http://www.spectator.co.uk/2017/01/ms-anne-maple-of-lewisham-my-new-poster-girl-for-free-speech/
Mate, come on, Rod Liddle, really? Surely you are aware what a duplicitous, lying, amoral scumbag that man is, and how much form he has for twisting non stories into flag waving appeals to naked racism? Rod Liddle? ****sake imps, I thought you were better than that. Did you even read the story? He started off by saying he didn't actually know a thing about the woman or her circumstances, then wades in with all the usual dog whistle appeals to prejudice. And people lap that hateful rubbish up.
I love Rod Liddle's prose. I don't not read X or Y because the author has certain views I disagree with , nor not watch a film, listen to music etc. If I did I may as well lock myself away in a silent empty white padded room because everybody does or says or thinks something in a way I don't like. But I do like Rod Liddle no matter that his views on some things are alien to me.
If you say so Imps. To be honest mate, I think you are gradually outing yourself as unequivacaly alt.right, which is just a 21st Century rebranding of fascism. Have you read Mein Kampf by any chance, despite the author having certain views you may disagree with?
Well that's a revelation Imps. I assumed you were posting from a silent, empty, white padded room... * this is a joke by the way *
Nope, never read Mein Kampf nor even thought about doing so. Its all the German Unis buying it up that have boosted its sales. I don;t not read it because it probably has views I would disagree with. I don;t read it because it just does not interest me. Ayn Rand interests me and I have read a bit of her recently and bits resound where others are plain bonkers. Other than that most of my reading is stuff like Stephen Donaldson's fantasy fiction. As for the alt-right hint if I didn't know you just call alt-right what the MSM tell you alt-right is then I would be pretty comfortable with that. I'm no fascist though.
All hail the new Labour policymaker John Humphries. It should worry people that Corbyn was pushed into agreeing to John Humphries' agenda this morning where he basically said things to Corbyn and then pushed him to agree. It should worry people even more that Corbyn just went along with it and now the whole BBC news squad" are spinning it out to be as if it was Corbyn that came up with the policy on the hoof in the first place. About time Humphries retired and Corbyn resigned. The former has forgotten the role of his job and the latter has been out of his depth since the start. Absolutely laughable stuff.
I wouldn;t expect anything less of a luvvie. Brexit is bad, Trump is bad, democrats are the reincarnation of Christ etc. She'll not want to earn in the UK if Corbyn gets John Humphries new policy through because she'd have to forfeit most of her pay.
Rich people preaching to the poor. Is it supposed to make a difference when they are actors or musicians or "legends?"
How could anyone miss it. Every achingly liberal media outlet has been putting it on repeat since yesterday. Every news item, twice on Victoria Derbyshire making sure we all still know that those who are allowed to be rich because they are in "the arts" don't like Trump. We get that. Nicole Kidman took a much better approach this morning. Diplomacy.
I get you now. Trump must be OK because people you don't like, don't like him. Makes perfect sense, thank you.
I'm no Trump fan. Just tired of the whole faux-liberal mindset of "if you don;t agree with us then you are fascist"
I'm tired of the whole right-wing mindset of "if you don't agree with us you are a faux-liberal", whatever the hell that is.
