No ego's, confidence in the team, a good manager and getting points on the board. We have to give players a chance, it's how we find the diamonds in the dirt! Don't forget, Warnock worked with Halford last season. If he didn't like him, he wouldn't sign him.

I refer to the day we signed Robbie "The Sick Note" Fowler and how absolutely buzzing everyone was. That was our year, Robbie Fowler and Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink! How could we not go up? <laugh>. Another year, in the same context, we signed an unproven youngster named Michael Chopra!

I do agree with you on some basis mate. Why are we signing a defender from a team with the worst defense in the league, for a team with the 2nd worst defense in the league <laugh>

Having thought about it a bit longer, Colin knows him, what he can do and what he brings to the team. We are losing Manga for the African Cup, if not permanently, so need some cover. Halford can play a number of positions so versatility is useful - and he has a good long throw!!!! Takes some pressure off Gunnar.

    Also, he probably is cheap!!!

Exactly mate!! Lets be happy we even have some bloody money to spend. I think boosting the squad and giving a bit more depth will put pressure on some of the players to up their game a bit. In Warnock we trust!!

If we're talking about an attacking midfielder/playmaker, anyone fancy Alex Mowatt from Leeds?

Always played out of his skin against us and I bet he's a Warnock type of player - all blood and guts with fair amount of skill as well.

Not flavour of the month with Monk up there and his contract is up in the Summer.

a 32 year old. Hardly thinking past the end of the season.

I suppose if we can offload Manga its a 'similar for similar' swap with a big salary saving.

if Colin can bring out the best in him as he did with Bamba (red card melt down aside) it'll be ok.

two wide men should be top of the list though together with an attacking centre midfielder / no 10.

I'm sure Colin knows what he's doing!!!

I'm not saying it's a bad signing. All the points made are spot on. I've always quite liked him as a player and I'm sure this is a good bit of business from a price/quality/cover point of view.

It's just not the number 10 creative match winner we're screaming out for and if it's even possible we just got a little bit slower!!

Tommy O'Sullivan was released. Did we even give him a chance?

    http://www.insidewelshfootball.co.uk/bluebirds-hot-prospect-taken-trial-colchester/

Tommy O’Sullivan who has been told to find a new club by Cardiff City has joined up with Colchester United for a trial.

The much thought of youngster represented Colchester United under-23s last night and scored a fine free-kick in a 3-2 win over Ipswich Town’s development squad.

Interestingly, controversial former Cardiff ‘player recruitment man’ Iain Moody is now in charge of the incomings at Colchester United and may have the final say on whether O’Sullivan makes the grade.

The League Two club will make a decision on O’Sullivan in the near future but with his contract expiring at the end of the season, he may be a safe option.

O’Sullivan impressed on his debut with first team manager John McGreal looking on, doing his chances of securing a professional club no harm.

The 21-year-old made his professional debut for the Bluebirds back in 2012 in a League Cup tie against Northampton Town and he’s gone on to represent Port Vale and Newport County across four loan spells.

The Bluebirds’ academy product who was awarded with FAW Young Player of the Year in 2015, has represented his country throughout the younger age groups and he may be given a good chance to rejuvenate his career with Colchester United.

No surprise Jay. Hope the lad does well. As I said last week in reply to a post from Barry Tiger about David Tutonda: -

"Or is he, like the others you refer to, just not good enough for Championship football?

Managers are paid to manage and make their decisions based on what they see in training and other games. Just because someone looks good at development level it doesn't follow they will do well I'm the first team and we can't afford the risk of throwing them in.

I wish him well for his future career as I do for the others who follow him from the club.

Many of the youngsters who come through the ranks at bigger clubs don't make it either and eventually filter out down the leagues until they find their level."

I think there will be a few more to go.

I've seen him a couple of times. Neat player with a good touch and vision. A little lightweight and that probably worked against him. Did well on loan at Newport and if they had any money they might have gone for him - but they're skint!!!

He will be fine in the lower divisions. Hope he doesn't come back and bite us on the bum.

Can't see it happening for us Jay and not sure if I want him. Not a regular scorer by the seem of it and we have had enough of big club loaners who do nothing for us.

Brentford the most likely destination if Hogan goes. And he has been on loan there before and not far for him to travel.

Agree mate. I don't think he scores enough goals to be honest. Only 3 in 36 on loan for Hull and with 2 London clubs interested, I'm sure he would want to stay as local as possible.
