Yes we did. But they don't deserve credit for overcoming stupid odds that were only there because they played so s**t.
Bad times at united too. Pogba, Ibra, Mata, Martial and De Gea want out and teams haven't feared them for years.
We, not they. And yes we do deserve credit for winning that game, despite our own ineptitude at making it so difficult. Criticise where it's due, also means you have to praise where it's due
Would it therefore be an unpopular view to suggest kudos to Wenger for a half-time bollocking that switched them back on again? PS - shame about Welbeck's effort - that would have been nice
As I've said, credit where it's due. If you're going to criticise where he gets it wrong, then at least have the integrity to give credit when he turns it around.
**** 1st half. Credit to Preston though, they were superb and should have been 3 or 4 nil up by half time. Ramsey and oxo proved again they are ****, despite Ramsey's goal. Missed kos massively. Iwobi was our best player.
Disagree a bit. Oxo was by far the worst, I don't think I have ever seen him play so badly. Maitland-Niles was also not good enough yet. Iwobi, I thought, for once, also had a poor game. Personally I thought Xhaka and Monreal played the best, but that isn't saying a lot. Ramsey I thought was OK in the second half, but I agree OK isn't good enough. Still, we won away from home without six of our best 11 players, Sanchez, Koscielney, Ozil, Bellarin, Cazorla and Coquelin. That isn't easy even against a Championship side.
Nobody really shone in that game. But we got the job done, so overall the players deserve collective credit for getting us through.
I forgot to mention Perez. He played OK (very like Ramsey), but it really was difficult to tell, because he was spending so much time helping Maitland-Niles out defensively, and he got nothing from him in return the whole game, so was difficult for me to tell how much of his average play was his fault. Now, I've written that, i wonder how much of an impact Maitland-Niles had on Ramsey as well. Like Piskie says, at some point you have to judge the team collectively, and a win is a win.
Perez's back heel assist was sexy as f*ck. That...that's about the only positive from the entire game for me. Quite the goal/assist ratio that chap has going on from his last few games.
For God's sake. Of all the draws we could have got, that was one of the worst Southampton will in all likelihood get past Norwich. If this is the case, we're going to have our work cut out for us because their style of play is our kryptonite. I'd fancy our chances at The Emirates, but we struggle a lot at St. Mary's. We've not beaten them there since they got promoted. Not an ideal draw by any means. I really hope Norwich find a way of winning
