Thing is with a Musa is that he seems to need three games to have 1 good game but could be a wonderful asset to have as an impact sub

Sounds like it has to be the midfield trio with a front 3 such as Musa, Vardy, Gray (pace to burn).

    Schmeichel
    Simpson Morgan Huth Fuchs/Chilwell
    Mendy Ndidi
    Drinkwater
    Gray Vardy Musa

Could be the way forward with the likes of Mahrez to come back. Still could do with a new centre back or two or a centre back and right back. Not sure if we need more in an attacking sense yet or not

Looks a pretty good formation on paper.

Great ball from Albrighton for Musa's first and a perfectly weighted return from Drinkwater for his second. He looks more capable of going past defenders with the ball than Vardy does. A longer spell in the side could improve his understanding with team mates. Difficult to do so if you only get the odd few minutes here and there especially when chasing a game.

Mahrez? He won't get back in the team if we start picking up points in the next few difficult matches. He looks more comfortable in his penguin suit picking up awards for what he did last season rather than in a Leicester shirt trying to win a football match this season. That should provoke a response! :emoticon-0121-angry

Mahrez is starting to irritate me now with the way he just wanders around the pitch without any urgency

Not to mention the way he turns his back like a big girl when 'challenging' an opponent. Embarrassing to watch.

I see Bart was only on for 6 minutes plus stoppage time and managed to pick up a yellow card. Anybody know what it was for?

Agree re Mahrez, by to come back I by no means would have him back in the team if we continue to pick up. If we have a front 3, It's 3 of Vardy, Gray, Musa and Albrighton. Slimani for me I'm still unsure of. I suppose it depends how well we are doing in the forward areas when he comes back as we are looking a hell of a lot better at the back and in midfield but looked blunt at Boro

Be interesting to see who we draw tonight. Think it's been 4 years since we drew a non premier league team in the FA Cup, when Huddersfield knocked us out. I'd like a good cup run!

Without Mahrez we would be in the Europey league now rather than the last 16 of the UCL ... simples ... he's that good. :)

Not this season he ain't! Agreed he was instrumental in helping us win the league last year and getting us into the Champions League, but this season he has not performed at all. He can't keep living off what he did last season. He's taken the big pay rise and other rewards but has given nothing back in the Premier League. He has scored goals and provided assists in the Champions League but, with all due respect, they have not come against quality opposition.

I think long term he's better suited to a gentler league where he can show off his undoubted range of skills and flair. But he's certainly not doing it for us.

We are on different planets in terms of our views here Bucks - but nothing wrong with that.

Personally I don't want to see Mahrez becoming some form of wing -back. We have a world class player in the mould of a Messi, Silva or Ozil - why the hell would we want him to be another Danny Simpson? Our ambitions have to be more than just survival with the sort of squad we are assembling.

Further, we can attract the cream of African talent whilst Mahrez is here - he is a superstar on that continent as his latest award testifies.

In my view, the club needs players of Mahrez's skill and ability in order to further grow - the prospect of watching players of his ability is what sells out the corporate boxes and attracts the TV companies - not, "come down to our box at Leicester and watch Marc Albrighton" ...

As to 'gentler leagues' - that has just about gone away completely with FIFA directives - this is not the 70s or 80s and talents like Mahrez are now very much protected.

Finally - he may have form dips ... but form is indeed temporary whilst class is permanent ... and he oozes class.

At the moment what he oozes is indifference and a lack of commitment to the team. One performance against a Man City side that committed footballing suicide isn't enough. I did see the game on Sky and I have to agree that he did show a couple of sublime touches, but again he was peripheral for most of the game, like he has been all season in The Prem. His presence here might have persuaded Slimani to sign, we'll never know for sure. But the main factor was the performance of the team as a whole last season, the much vaunted 'togetherness' and the worldwide coverage we got. His presence wasn't enough to persuade Kante to stay. And while those in the African continent think he is a superstar, they aren't the ones watching his efforts this season. Will he be Africa's player of the season 2016/17? I seriously doubt it.

As for your comment re Marc Albrighton, I actually find that rather disrespectful. It's the unsung heros like him, Drinkwater and others who week after week put in the hard graft and miles on the pitch and put their bodies on the line to win the ball that afford a team the luxury of a player like Mahrez. But when that luxury player constantly fails to perform and plays like he can't be bothered to contribute to the overall performance of the team, then he's not fulfilling his part of the bargain, and that is dishonest. Yes, it's nice for the viewing public to see a great piece of skill once or twice in a game, but we need to win matches in order to put real fans' bums on seats, and to win matches you need to have all players contributing and putting in a shift in their own way for 90 minutes. That doesn't seem to me to be too much to expect. That is teamwork, and football is still a team game last time I looked.

Mahrez is being closed down a lot more this season and often faces 2 or 3 men on him very quickly. He needs to learn how to handle that and realise how he can best benefit the team on those occasions - am sure they will be working on that in training. Think it is pretty obvious that if he tracks back as Albrighton does it will give the opposition more time to reorganise when we counter and to crowd him out. Wouldnt be at all surprised if he has been told to stay forward more to isolate their defence. It is a completely different challenge for Mahrez this season as opposition know they are up against quality. The best players in the world lear quickly how to play against 2/3 defenders - we will find out just how good Mahrez is (certainly wouldnt mention him in the same sentence as Messi, yet).

It's not disrespectful ... merely realistic ... the flair players are the ones that attact the wider interest at all clubs and of TV and of sponsors ... Albrighton has been great for us - no argument at all - but, unlike Mahrez, nobody from the top 6-8 clubs in this country or internationally would be interested in him. The simplest measure would be on shirt sales from our Thailand Club shop. - Mahrez shirts will be one of the highest in demand, if not the highest. .

Whilst I recognise the importance of him as a revenue stream, I'm actually more interested in what he contributes on the pitch.

What really irks me about players like him is that he clearly has all the attributes of great skill, touch and balance, but lacks the application to really kick on and become even better. If he applied himself more and actually showed more determination to try and win the ball back after losing it and got more involved rather than looking like he doesn't give a damn, then the crowd would really get behind him and he might even enjoy it more.
