Thanks for all the posts on the topic - especially the General and RBF and some very valid points. I hadn't realised that CJ hada scored that many goals n teh first few games, but I think Basil should have had his chance before he actually did ad when we went to Brentford, it would have made more sense to have had him in the middle nad CJ out wide.
Yes, after we went 1-0 up against Derby, I felt that that was our best display in over a year and everyone wanted to play with no one looking lethargic at the end.

Let's hope we can continue in the same vein for the remaining league games this month!!!

One of the hardest decisions for a manager is when to make a striker change. After the draw at Fulham, we dominated Preston but failed to score and paid the price when they broke away to score. The Brighton match was a disaster, but for me, that was down to the players failing to score, then failing to respond as each goal went in. Against Leeds, we fought back to 2-2 only to lose in stoppage time. Gutting to be sure, but then AN turned to Oliveira away at QPR, only to have the game plan go out the window when Olsson went off in the 2nd minute. Oliveira did his best, but with Naismith trying to cover two positions after Brady dropped back to LB, there was little for him to work with. The Derby game followed, but Oliveira again failed to find the net in a close game that could have gone either way. Then along came Brentford and Oliveira finally scored in a league game with a stunning goal and followed that with another against Barnsley, but it wasn't enough. His curling shot for the winner settled the Villa game which followed as the players fought hard to make it stick. Huddersfield followed with a close game where they scored, Howson equalised, and then they scored again and hung on for the win. Reading was similar at 1-1 after Oliveira scored again, only for Howson to be sent off after conceding a penalty. Brentford was a stalemate which we dominated and could have won if we had scored, but we didn't, though it wasn't for want of trying. That left Monday's game against Derby for Oliveira to come into his own. 7 goals in 7 games looks impressive now, but at the time in those early games he was still finding his way. Let's hope he and the team can kick on from here.

He is absolutely correct in his accusation, Saints second goal was scored where he should have been while he was off the field. By staying on the pitch it would have caused a break in the play and given time for the situation to be assessed! <ok>

I have to say AN is right on this, against PL opposition you have to take everything you can get to give yourself an advantage, breaking up the play for a few moments does that and although i have not seen the incident from how its read AN is right. You cant blame klose for the goal but little things like that make a difference, still the result may well likely have still been the same.

I also agree with AN. Klose was marking Yoshida and his absence created a hole in the defence leaving Martin as our only CB at the time.

I also think AN is right in what he's saying and he should be addressing this with Klose. What concerns that he's raised this in public and although he doesn't say it, reading between the lines he's pretty much blaming Klose for the second goal, which is not in my mind the best way to build confidence and team spirit.

I can see your point, as I dislike managers criticising players in public, but this was a serious mistake in judgement with left us with only one CB against a PL attack. Having taken a lot of stick lately, the back 4 had played well throughout but were let down by this and Tettey's failure to stick with van Dijk for the first goal. Having himself been under pressure, AN perhaps thought that pointing this out was justified, but I didn't like the use of 'naive'.

Wonder if he would be as quick to point it out if one of his favorites had done it. Also surely we should still be able to defend for a few minutes, when we're down to 10 men, even if we have to reorganise a bit. Hold on that's the managers / captains job, maybe one of then having identified the problem should have re arrange things to cover the absence. Anyway as I said AN is right that Klose should have gone down on the pitch (although if the ref had let play go on then he may have kept players onside) and AN should have discussed it with Klose and given him instructions for the future, but raising it as he did is in my mind bad management. There are plenty of players that have made much worse mistakes and not been criticised in public.

That's what Dan O'Hagan just asked on twitter - but I won't paste it on here, in case you've already done it numerous times.:emoticon-0136-giggl

Of course he´s still here, he likes it here, and anyway, where else would he go? But you have to admit, today´s sort of result we´ve seen countless times before, with other such luminaries, as Worthington, Walker, Lambert, Hughton, and pretty much anyone else you care to mention, it´s a particularly Norwich sort of thing. We´re world champs at it. <laugh> and just to make sure we did the job properly again, we get a man sent off, again! <doh>

Amazing that there is no "media correspondent" type person who reports back on the social media response. To protect "Brand Norwich City". If there was one, then this kind of backlash, should be reported. They must be aware surely!?

I tell you one thing, if nothing else. The board are killing this Board!! It's dead on here again! :emoticon-0127-lipss

Norwich are so bad they make the Eurovision Song Contest seem like the height of musical talent.

Please I need to wake up... this must be a bad dream!

Yesterday was shambolic for two reasons, Oliveira's stupid sending off and then Howson's injury on top of that. In spite of that, the fight back with 10 men was excellent and when we scored we looked like getting something after all. It was similar to the QPR game where we fought back well and pushed them all the way with 10 men. Though I'm still on the fence about AN, I don't see this result as being his fault. I thought the substitutions were good but the sending off, Howson's injury and the difficulties of trying to break down an 11 man defense with 10 men told in the end.

A thoroughly decent man will now be subject to dogs abuse from the fans because of our incompetent board. The whole lot of 'em are stinking the place out and things are only going to get worse, trust me. We WILL lose against Lambert on Saturday I'm sure of it and Carrow Road will become toxic. I just hope when the final whistle blows most of the vitriol is aimed at that Cow of an owner, hopefully if it's bad enough she will reconsider her stance, sell up pronto and bugger off back to Suffolk !

I am becoming increasingly frustrated by AN's public recriminations against his players - these should be in private and of the few seconds of RM's interview that I watched, Basil did indeed apologise to his team mates. Yes, what Basil did was wrong, but I would imagine that he felt he was getting little protection from the referee (as usual when our players are being held/fouled!!!) and just happened to retaliate for once.
I'm with KIO and whilst I think AN has been here too long, then for all the good that DS and MWJ have done for this club, their stubbornness is slowly destroying it and she should go, taking her nephew or whoever with her.

I should have read you post before I started mine KIO - you've put it really well and yes, as I said after our win against Derby - 'will we get any more points in January??'
