Two lamb steaks, jacket potato, coleslaw and beans. Very nice too. Will be having a couple of glasses of Rioja tonight.
If I had the good fortune to eat something cooked by a Gurkha, I'd ask them if they were able to shave me while I was asleep without waking me up, or whether that was just an urban myth?
Going to the Marble Arch for a few bevvies with a couple of clients tomorrow evening. Do you know it? Proper real ale joint with its own micro-brewery. Good cheeseboard, by all accounts. In Collyhurst.
I do know of it, yes. Never been though. It's towards Ancoats isn't it, if I'm thinking of the right place? I wouldn't call that Collyhurst, you're more likely to come across a pub like The Jockey from Shameless there.
One website described it as being in Collyhurst. It's close to, but not in The Northern Quarter, if that helps. Could be Ancoats, but then how the **** would I know>
**** me, it's a long time since I was last in there when I was young, the Landlord had a parrot that was trained to talk/squalk when opposing darts team players were throwing (true story)
The lamb starter wasn't overly but you could have the curry as requested and I requested hot so yes, it was. Not mad hot though, perfectly manageable! Other than that it was standard Indian fare; poppadoms to start, with a very good chutney/dip tray, and I had boiled rice and chapati with my curry. Was excellent.
Bought most of the Christmas food shop this weekend, highlights for me will be a jerk ham on Boxing Day and the smoked rainbow trout which I will have for breakfast on most days over Christmas.
The smoked trout for breakfast sounds immense I've bought the turkey today. I haven't done so for years as it's either the Mrs job or we've been at parents etc in recent years. Smallest one was 6.5 kg which seems excessive for our family needs tbh. Waiting for Mrs to come home and tell me I've ****ed up
Just made a full English. Rare breed sausage, oak smoked bacon. Hash browns, fried mushrooms, couple of snotty fried eggs and Heinz beans. I will defeat this hangover. Feel like ****. Smashed Friday night, got in at 2am. Up at 7 for golf. Then it was the men's section Christmas piss up after. Got home at 5 then straight out for the works Christmas do. Got in at 2:30 feeling horrible, as had mixed my drinks drank prosecco, champagne, beer and red wine. Felt truly awful yesterday. Then had to go to the local last night as my Mrs was singing. Ended up smashed again on kronenbourg.
Bought it from Lidl by mistake a couple of years ago thinking it was smoked salmon and it's superb and imo nicer than the salmon. We've bought it every year since.
They chuck it all in with the smoked salmon, same box and all, you just have to look for it. Plenty of flavour but lighter and more delicate, mostly I'll make simple scrambled eggs with butter to go with.
Back home for Christmas and the oil Aga is up to temperature after a few days. We have been feasting on suckling pig while we were away, the last trip to the local butcher I bought a prepared piggy for €25 - thought we might try it for the family on Xmas day as an alternative to turkey so I phoned around a few butchers and checked online but the cheapest is £50 !!!!!! - complete rip-off. Back to turkey for lunch it is.
