Best game of the season, bar none Not only that, it wouldn't matter if Charlton were 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League, and Millwall were bottom of League 2 - they would still beat us Who is going to the game next Wednesday night? And your favourite Millwall memories? Mine: Losing 3-0 to them at Selhurst. Les Bailey scoring a rocket from 35 yards. Millwall outnumbering us 2-1. Leading 2-0 at the Den in the mid 80s with 3 mins left - and escaping with a 2-2 draw. Beating them in the early 90s at Upton Park - I am sure John Hendry scored the winner for us that night?
Kim Grant in the snow. One of my best memories as a Charlton Supporter. Let us be honest though, we are never going to beat them. They seem to have a hold over us. I shall be there though for the most one sided Derby in Europe. Before TC says it.
I have fond memories of that; people clambering over the fences to get out the ground quicker. What a bunch of idiots kettling all of the fans in.
5 days to go We have sold out It would be nice to have Rudd, Solly and Holmes back in the side on Wednesday night.
I think Dillon Phillips has done well for us. He is an excellent shot stopper and has got a solid character.
I totally agree. Two world class saves at Bradford last week to get us a point. He looks a very decent prospect. Sadly we all know what happens next though under Meire #Sold
Rudd's loan only lasts until January, so Phillips can go in the shop window (aka the first team) to raise his value for a summer sale.
Talk is that Narwich loaned him to us to put him in the shop window, I guess we know one of our January signings then.... off set by the sale of Phillips
When you consider how much Phillips' value is likely to rise after an extended run in the first team that would would be stupid, so you're probably right.
To be honest, the goalkeeper is the least of our worries. Phillips has shown he is ready to make the shirt his own, and if Rudd goes in january, my feeling is we need back up for Dillon, not a new Number 1. What the players badly need to understand is that our more passionate fans will be going to Millwall on wednesday. While saturdays performance was unacceptable under any circumstances, they are really playing with fire if they expect to stroll around the Den against Millwall. They could do themselves a real favor with a strong battling show, but equally, if they turn up looking half interested, they will face some dogs abuse. I never advocate booing players wearing a Charlton shirt, but others may not feel the same. Time to stand up and be counted lads, or pack up and ship out.
The question is,though can a midfield of Ulvestaad & Crofts do any better, or are they just useless even at their best?
John Hendry, the lad we had on loan from Spurs. If I remember correctly, his goal was late on and an absolute belter. But was it a cup match?
Good post as always, Ken. Robinson is talking the talk again today about what tomorrow night means. Looks like Morison and Gregory will be up front for them, but personally I think that Baeur and Teixera are good enough to deal with them. What we in the away end want to see is 11 players who have got pride in our badge. Any player who doesn't demonstrate this can expect to cop it. Most fans can recognise the difference between players who are wholehearted but just plain sh1t - Fox and Crofts - to lazy little w*nkers strutting round as if they are in a night club in Brixton - Lookman and Ajose. And please don't let Botaka play.
I am expecting the usual loss, go for 2-0, but looking forward to being with real Charlton fans who will undoubtedly generate a bit of passion. Saturday at the Valley was like being at a funeral.
